Question about Hitachi 50UX26B/27K 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

50UX26B Powers off after a few minutes.

My 50UX26B just started to power off after a few minutes. It will turn back on by clicking to on button twice, but powers off again by itself.

I took the back panel off and vacuumed and blew it out with compressed air thinking maybe the excess dust build-up was causing over-current somewhere, but that didn't help.

I suppose there is a bad component somewhere, so I'm wondering if someone else has had this problem with this model and found the fix for it.

Any help would be appreciated as I'd like to get this working again -- Been a good TV until now.

Tried replacing that chip, no luck. Bought the service manual online. Noted that red protection LED was on, and the five green LEDs. Per the manual, noted that two green LEDs turn off first; replaced all four chips associated with them per the troubleshooting chart, no change.

Have replaced the STRM6511 and the three convergence IC's - STK4274, and an LA7838. No change. One serviceman quoted $350 - it is a pretty old set...

I should note that the set doesn't come on and then power off, it just never comes on - only the click of the relay, and the LEDs as noted.

What is a hard reset? Is that appropriate?
    Fuses seem OK.
Where should you discharge the large filter caps, and how if no HV probe?

Sounds as if you have the most common problem with projection sets,,,, the convergance Ic's have failed and will need replacment, belive in this set they are the world famous STK392-110.THIS WILL DEFINITELY HELP U.

Most likely 5a picofuse blown e9?? as well as cap. 707,710,711 and H.O.T. Should replace the voltage reg STRM????? in power supply also. BE CAREFULL in power supply.
If you have a H.V. probe, DISCHARGE the large filter caps to ground FIRST, they usually don't have a discharge path and you will shock the **** out of yourself or blow stuff up if you dont.

Windows sleep mode problems

Sleep mode on a Windows 7 PC saves power without you having to turn your computer off and without losing any work. This option cuts the power to your monitor, powers down the hard drive and pauses all functions until you awaken the computer from hibernation. Whether you have a laptop, desktop or workstation, putting your computer into sleep mode will lower your electric bill and save money! Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your desktop. In the lower right corner of the Start menu, next to the "Shut Down" button, is a button labeled with a small, right-pointing arrow. Mouse over the arrow. The Shut Down menu appears. Point at "Sleep" and click on this option. Your Windows 7 computer goes into sleep mode. Wake your computer from sleep mode by jiggling the mouse. There may be a delay of a few seconds before your hardware powers on. All of your open programs are still open and your work is intact, just as you left it before the computer entered sleep mode. Configure your Windows 7 PC to go into sleep mode automatically when it is not used for a certain amount of time. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel." Click "System and Security." Click "Power Options." A menu opens. Click on "Choose when the computer sleeps" and select the number of minutes of inactivity. You can also set a separate time interval to put your monitor into sleep mode. If you set both to 10 minutes, then your PC and monitor will automatically go into sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity

On my Hitachi 50UX26B the only button that is working is the power. Neither the remote or the buttons on the TV will change channels or volume. Today it also has a wide black strip in the middle, about 24...

you likely had a power outage, unplug set for at least ten minutes and put power back to it.

Seen this in a lot of these sets and owned two of them myself.

before you rate this solution if you have a question let me know.

Unplugging set and plugging back allows the microprocessor in the set to reset

TV turns itself off after about 5 minutes (green light remains on). I can turn off the TV and turn it back on immediately, however, the TV turns itself back off after a few minutes. It started turning off...

Check and make sure your fans are working and there is sufficiant cooling to the back of the set. Sounds like it is overheating and going into protection mode.

Powers down by it self then will not power up for up to twenty minutes or so

This is an indication that you have a leaky electrolytic capacitor in the voltage regulator section.
Leaky capacitor will affect the regulation of the supply and need a little warm-up to power up the unit.
Replaced the capacitor in that area and your unit will back to normal again.
Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day!
