Question about Samsung HP-S4273 42 in. Plasma HDTV

1 Answer

I have a Samsung HP-S4273 Plasma TV. It was purchased in the USA, so runs on 110-120 V 60Hz. I am moving to Australia next year where the supply is 240V 50Hz and also a different TV format (PAL/SECAM vs NTSC). It cost me alsmost $2k at the time and will be of little value second hand now, so I would like to take it with me if it will be of any use at all. If I power it via a step-up transformer, I need to know if the device will be of any use to me there: 1. As a TV attached to a cable box. 2. For viewing DVDs attached to an Australian DVD player 3. As a monitor attached to a PC. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Andrew

Will my Behringer amp purchased in the USA work in Australia

You will probably need a voltage converter. Unless you purchased the general export model with a switchable voltage power supply, your PMX2000 will have the power supply for the 120V 60 Hz electrical mains and a 10A H fuse. To confirm this, look on the back of the amp.
I wish that I had better news for you.

Can a samsung tv be reprogrammed for a different region?

TWO ISSUES: FIRST USA IS NTSC picture and sound format and Australia is PAL picture and sound format---going to need a special box taking one kind of signal and converting it for the other.

Line voltage is likely to be different---120 ac here and may be 220 there---going to need if that a step down transformer for their voltage down to 120 for the USA set.

Both items are fairly common and you can Google and shop for them on the internet once you know the standard voltage --IF memory serves me correctly it is 220 but our good friend Google should have that info as well.

Seems to be a lot of questions like this here lately.

Scrolling line

Question. Are the scrolling lines horizontal?
If so that is called 60 cycle Hum Bar and is a result of the following:
1. Bad grounding of the cable system.
2.Bad cable box. This a common problem with cable boxes.
3.If you are using Component cables from the cable box to the tv then the Component cables might be bad. Try using another set of Component cables. If that does not work then you need to call the Cable co. to come out and check their system and make sure that the cable tech brings out another cable box to try out. There is no problem with the set.

Will my Australian DVD recorder & Plasma TV work in the USA?

Hi. No they won't work. Different systems here (found out the hard way). Ironically we are now moving back to Australia from New Jersey and we have nearly the exact same system that we have to sell before coming back !

Samsung Plasma 42" TV - 2006

Hi, this is quite a common problem for plasma screens and LCD screens. The fluroscent backlight is more than likely faulty and would need replacing. The best thing to do is to take it to a service centre because there are no user servicable parts inside the plasma.

NO VIDEO

I have a Samsung 50" plasma, that has been blacking out over the last 6 months. A 9/2005 set. Now its practically unwatchable as it happens 3 times in an hour. Its not heat related - I have a high volume 9" fan activated on TV power on. Turning the set offf/on usually makes it come back for a now short while. Considering to go put it in the back of my pickup and park it in front of Best Buy and discourage Samsung purchases. This is the 2nd Samsung TV I've purchased (the other a 32" tube) I gave to my folks a couple years ago and its gone bad as well. Samsung product may look good, but their video engineers are not.
