Having the same problem but now I cannot connect to my network. Please help"!!!!!!!

  • kprn Aug 21, 2008

Have used broadband (2wire) for years without connection problems until I bought an HP desktop with Vista pre-installed. Since initial setup I can connect to internet but it just shuts down out of nowhere. I have to reboot and physically remove and reconnect the wire in the back (sorry, not a techie) to get back up again....only to disconnect again sooner or later. I've downloaded latest drivers, searched thru Vista help, HP help and have gotten NO help! Is it Vista? Can I uninstall Vista and install XP with hope of a fix? Help. I have to reboot every 10 minutes some days- and it doesn't seem to matter where I go on the internet, it happens. Help!

Facebook uses asynchronous javascript and XML to load its pages therefore, intermittent connection problems affect it like hell unfortunately.

How are you connected? This is an important distinction due to known difficulties within the networking bridge, amongst other issues.

As a first step I would make sure you have Vista SP1 as this has some patches to fix known errors. If this doesnt fix, post back with the specifics of the problem and steps you have taken.

With internet explorer/firefox connectivity issues.. More than likely, you\'re having virus and/or spyware related issues. Go to download.com and download adaware and spybot and run full system scans and see where that takes. I\'d stay away from **** sites too :) lol

There are different options to diagnose the problem. Either:

* Check your network cable if it properly connected to the ethernet port
* restart your modem/router
* Check internet explorer if there is an available update.

My system restore says is cannot complete , go back to a later date....says same thing when I go back

what usually happens is when an operating system is infested with loads of virus. Restored files usually gets corrupted. this usually happens with windows vista and windows 7. Please try a repair of your system, with Vista, its repair is installing without formating the hard disk drive. this method will give u a fresh installation but you will not lose any personal files. it will give a name to the old windows as windows old. i hope this works for you

I cannot connect to facebook on my desktop which has a Windows Vista operating system. I have tried deleting cookies, cache, browser history everything I could of.

First are you able to login to other websites like google , Microsoft etc ??
IF no then there is internet connectivity problem on the computer.
If you are able to visit these websites and not able to login or browse facebook then try installing Google crome that should fix the problem.

Download google from below link

My computer is very slow

Windows Vista has a bad reputation of being dumb and slow. Windows XP and Windows 7 are way better in this respect. If you are using Windows Vista make sure that your RAM is at least 1 GB and your processor should be around 1GHz. If this is not so upgrade will definitely help. Just follow the below instructions to enhance your PC's speed.
(1) Keep your PC free of viruses especially if you extensively use the internet. Always keep a good updated Antivirus on your computer all the time and make sure you do not install more than one Anti virus on a single computer it is not recommended.
(2) Keep your Windows registry clean. Use a good registry cleaning software like RegCure and keep it updated. This also makes a good difference.
(3) Clean your Hard disk of all unwanted stuff manually and you can use disk cleaning utility of Windows also. To locate Disk clean just right click on any Hard disk partition (C:, D: etc) and take the properties of it. You will see a pie chart just beside that you will find the disk cleaning button to remove unnecessary files in your PC and boost its speed.
(4)After disk cleaning "Defrag" your disk also if possible. Just right click on a disk partition and go to properties you will see a window and on top you will see a tab "Tools" click that and you will find "Disk Defragmentation".

Make sure it happens.and your PC will be running fast in no time.

I think you may have a virus? I recommend that you do a System Restore to the time, you say about a month ago? anyway, restore it to that time & hopefully the problems will be gone.

Block pops up saying ...out of memory at line 123

Facebook and Vista are both memory hogs.
Options:
1. Use http://lite.facebook.com 2. Use a better browser. http://browsehappy.com/ 3. Buy more RAM. It's cheap. Your time is not. Don't waste time with a slow computer. 4. Vista. There are better options. Most options are better, actually.

Using Vista Home Premium on Firefox, goes off line at times

Are you on a wireless connection or a wired connection? If you are on wireless, try changing the channel on your wireless router. You may be getting interference from another source/network.

If its a wired connection they try right clicking the connection and choosing "repair." This will correct several basic network problems. If that doesn't fix it, post back and further troubleshooting will be required.
