Question about Akai LCT2721AD 27 in. LCD Television
I'm assuming that you have tried the buttons on the case with the same result. In that case the red light is still on because the power source is still in Stand-by - either the controller circuit of the tv is faulty and hasn't send the command to start or (much more likely in this model of tv) the power source has been started, a short caused by a failure in the inverter board is detected and the protection system puts the power board back into Stand-by to protect the rest of the tv's components.
To find out precisely what is the failed part the tv must be opened and the voltages on the power source tested - the one powering the failed part will be significantly lower than normal. This is a job for someone who knows electronics and has at least a basic experience in repairing tv's. If you're not such a person then call one.
