It could be a piece that holds the battery in the compartment.
What happens when you plug it into an electrical outlet?

-   I have the same problem. I tried pushing in the buton/jumper where the battery door piece would normally push and turning the camera on at the same time - this seemed to work for a second, as the camera powered on, but I think I may have damaged the actuator button even more and now I can not get it to do it again.-   quistofer
