When my cabrio washer gets to the spin cycle it shows 5d. What does that mean? How can I fix it?

SD is a slow drain code

chances are the 5d error code you see is actually sd. it is supposed to signal excessive suds in the water but it seems to show at other times as well. but regardless of the code and depending on you mechanical abilities, remove the center cap on top of the agitator, remove the bolt and remove the agitator. some force may be needed to get the agitator off the shaft, keep equal pressure 180 degrees apart and work around the base lifting the agitator, gently rock the agitator as you lift. when it comes off take the screws from the gear hub assy out, probably six screws. when the cap is lifted off you should find a small gear, pull it off the shaft, clean and look at the teeth inside. if worn, get replacement part. put back together and run a rinse and spin cycle or similar to see if it spins . hopefully it will solve your problem.

5d is suds warning. The motor is being overworked from too much suds caused by improper measurements or detergent or both.

Run your washer without detergent a few times. Remember this washer uses less water than a normal washer it has 2 pumps. one recirculates a small amount of water over them clothes. You go adding in a regular amount of clothes and that washer fancy electronics gonna have a cow.

The troubleshooting page in the owner's manual says: 5d "Sd" Suds Detected - Did you use regular detergent? Regular or hand-washing detergents are not recommended for this washer. Use only High Efficiency (HE) detergent. Did you add too much detergent? Always measure detergent. Follow detergent manufacturer's directions. If excessive suds are detected, the washer will display this code while running a suds reduction correction routine at the end of the wash cycle.The susds reduction routine removes extra suds and asures proper rinsing of your garments. If te code remains and the wash cycle dial is flashing after the recovery routine has stopped, re-select your desired cycle using cold water. Press start. Do not add detergent.

Thanks for using FixYa. Error 5d means too much detergent was used. Try the following procedure---

– Run the unit through a RINSE/SPIN cycle.
– Run a NORMAL cycle without adding any detergent.

This should clear the unit of the excess detergent. If still the problem persists, then please check the following things--



1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections to the drain pump, pressure switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Check/clean drain pump filter of foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Check drain pump.
7. Check the pressure switch.
8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any cycle and replace the part that has gone bad.

sd is suds error. add only HE soap. UL is unbalanced load. watch load size and balancing loads.

Sd is displayed when the machine/motor control, by analyzing drag on the basket, detects a suds-lock condition, and is steady on while the control then runs a mini-clean out cycle. If the clean out cycle is unable to correct the over-sudsing problem, the cycle ends and Sd flashes in the display. This may signify: ➔ Load is bunched or twisted around agitator. ➔ Excessive detergent usage. ➔ Basket cannot engage during drain step. ➔ Mechanical friction on drive mechanism, not allowing basket to engage.

you may need a new timer. yes have it looked at.
