Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

I have a Thermadore double wall oven Model # SC302ZS. As with many of them, the digital readout has failed and needs to be replaced. I have been told by Thermador that I have to send the parts to an after market company and have them repaired (item #492071). I have removed the digital display and unhooked it. Now I am working on the board that lays flat behind it. I cannot get the wires to release. What is the trick, or do I need a special tool?

If you mean you cannot unsolder the wires and release the display, use solder braid or called solder mop, available from many good electronics stores.
Hope this helps.

no, I don't think they are soldered. They should slide up and off but, they don't. I wish I could post a picture.

If the control circuit board is clean with no signs of grease or moisture deposits, it's almost always the membrane keypad.

Double oven that lost power and will not reset and comes up with F o3

Hi and weclome to FixYa, I am Kelly

The oven temp sensor has failed. When the sensor fails the range control unit shuts off the oven. However..... this is a double oven an it should only shut off the oven with the bad temp sensor. If it got super hot...while you were using it and it themally protected itself you may also need a thermal fuse / high temp fuse. IF you can locate the model number and respond here, I will look your model up and see what may have happened.

(I tried to answer your chat but it had already been passed to another expert)

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Model jes636wk01 the readout display reads E 1 and none of the buttons work. I press clock and nothing...i press thaw and nothing...I press start and nothing...

This is a common 700Wcounter top oven with no special features, so honestly it will be more economical to replace it rather then repair it.

That said, you probably have a failed keypad.

Sparks aplenty!

This is usually just due to grease or food particles stuck somewhere in the cavity of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

The waveguide cover (also called a spatter shield) is usually about the size of a playing card and often held in place by a plastic rivet.

It can be fragile, and the metal edges of the oven behind it can be sharp, so be careful!

The cover and the metal behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.

If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced. It provides important protection for the magnetron.

If so, please double-check your model number on the tag so we can help you better.

I have a double roper oven Model #39758B0 Serial # 8Roo896 Problem when turning the top oven on I get an F-5 signal and the oven does not turn on. I need to know how ro fix this problem. Thank you, Rita...

My problem is with a roper double wall oven not a micowave. When turning the top oven on I receive a F-5 signal and the oven does not turn on. I misplaced my manual hoping you can solve this problem or send me the manual.
Thank you,
Rita
