Question about Microsoft Wireless Optical Notebook Mouse 4000

1 Answer

Mouse Same problem as everyone else. I have another exact same mouse that earlier crapped out and then started my spare - that lasted about a year and now is giving the same problem. How can you get Microsoft to replace them? Maybe there's another wireless mouse out there that doesn't give out? Please let me know. Thanks, R. C,

Ya I have gone with a few different microsoft wireless devices and I do not like them. There range is horrible along with the reliability. I use logitech keyboard/mouse combo and it works great.
Good luck,

Is my Logitech wireless mouse defective?

A number of times, I had the USB transceiver go defective after a bit more than a year. First make sure the mouse batteries are in good condition. If so, I would try the transceiver. I ordered about six of them from Logitech. I have a number of computers using these. After having two fail I decided to have spares all the time.

How can I get a mouse to work on a DELL DM061 (XP OS) from start screen?

In searching for details about your model, it may be helpful to know that the DM061 is also known as the E520

There are five things I can suggest (and they are only suggestions)

1. Restore your system to an earlier time when the mouse was working. Read this
2. plug your mouse in and if you can do the following without your mouse
Go to Hardware>DeviceManager and navigate to the USB section at the bottom; expand this, indentify the entry which is your mouse, either update drivers, roll back (to previous driver), or uninstall driver. Disconnect your mouse and Reboot your system. When it is up, plug in your mouse again. If you uninstalled your driver you might see messages like 'Found new hardware', 'searching for drivers' and hopefully 'Your new hardware is installed and ready to use'. In any case this procedure may result in your mouse starting to work again.
3. Go to the Dell website and download mouse drivers if available, If you are using another computer, save them. You may be able to install the downloaded drivers from the media; when asked, enter the location of driver as being on the removable media that you used.
4. Try updating your BIOS from the Dell website, if such an upgrade is available. Choose the current version of BIOS if there isn't a new one. Follow Dell's procedure for updating the BIOS. (I don't really think 4. will make any difference though)
5. As a last resort, perform a system recovery (return your computer to it's 'new' state). You will lose everything on your HD if you do this, so ensure you have backed up your files.

I don't how difficult any of this is without the use of a mouse.
Good luck !

Erase backup drive

Hilight (select) them by dragging a "box" around them with the mouse, or mouse-click the first file, hold down shift key, scroll down the list and click the last file. All will be hilighted. Press the delete key.

My mouse just stop working. Should I uninstall

a.Check the batteries if this is a cordless mouse.
If bad replace.
(I would replace anyway. Nice to have a spare set!)

b. If good then simply swap USB ports.
This will cause the operating system to sometimes wake up and function properly with the device.

Only un-install re-install as a last resort.
Most of the mouse hardware out there will work with the default settings.

Good luck!

Keyboard stopped working

Have you tried cleaning out the keyboard?

Dust can get in there & play havoc on the plastic board inside of it.

I take mine apart every 9mos to a year, completely.

My keyboard & mouse keep going off (MX5000) This has happened so many times, I would like to get a new keyboard and mouse. I have a 3 year warranty, and I'm angry today, because I was very busy in my home...

Check the rechargable battery, in the mouse and keyboard if it's wireless, if not, get back with me. Also check your bluetooth settings, I am leaning more toward that. Bluetooth is sometimes troublesome. Use the default settings, if you can, keep a spare usb mouse around for times like this. These machines get touchy sometimes, and the more "stuff", they have to do, the more likelly a problem will arise. If that's not the problem please let me know if you installed any new hardware or sofware apps, since the last time you used it for this task, thanks

Centrios X7 gaming mouse

It should work on Vista 32-bit. It says explicitly in the manual that it WILL NOT work with 64-bit Vista. I think you're out of luck, dude.

Mx3200 keyboard

I had exactly the same problem - ie Logitech MX3000 keyboard with remote mouse and only the "F mode" key and few others seemed to work around the top of the keyboard, but I don't think I had the SetPoint software. So I found it and downloaded it (

As soon as it was installed I was asked to secure the keyboard by pressing ctrl alt and F12 and then I had to type in a 16 digit code (given on screen) and then my keyboard started working again.

I didn't have a spare keyboard so I used the on-screen keyboard (Start - All Programs - Accessories - Ease of Access - On-Screen Keyboard).
