You left it on to long and burt the image of something else on there and ruined your monitor. Try to have your screen saver set to Ten minutes and turn it off if not using it for a while.

If its more like just weird discoloration, it may be that it needs to be DEGAUZED. to do this, use the monitor controls and select it from the options and press the button to degauz it, it will make a funny noise and wiggle the screen and then come back to normal. This may help or solve the problem depending on how bad it is.

Anything Magnetic that gets to close can do this to a monitor.

Keep out of direct sunlight and away from magnets.

Degauzing is bassically a small EMP pulse that will discharge magnetic field disruption do to sunlight or magnets.

What you described sounds like a convergence problem. When convergence has failed the colors will commonly look 3D,warped, etc. This tips page here on Fixya has more details.

The convergence IC's are definitely bad. This is not something you can fix yourself unless you know how to solder and are technically inclined.

Parallel shadows across the screen


Hi, what type of the monitor, LCDs or CRTs???? Also, will the shadows being shown at the same spots or at different spots at different time?? it could help to narrow the problem, post it on more detail if possible.
