Hmmm, how long did you leave the battery out. One time I had to leave it out about 1 hour. That worked for me.

Worth a shot, also check to make sure that the carriage is in it's proper place. Open the maint. door like you are going to change the ink, check to make sure all seated properly, close cover and see if error goes away. Also try unpluggin from power and plug back in.

Good luck!

Supply expired

You can't. Cartridges have a date bomb built in, they may be expired.

Officejet d135 - "Supply Expired" error message

HP, in order to sell more ink, monitors the expiration date of the cartridges installed. Solution is either to buy a new unexpired cartridge from HP or to disable the date monitoring built in to the printer. This latter is done by removing the button cell located inside the D135 printer on the left hand side or by simply slipping a thin piece of plastic between button cell and metal contact. You will no longer have date function on printer, but it won't object to expired cartridges either.

Refilled ink cartridges

The reason why the printer says supply expired because the ink cartridge has its own warranty. When the warranty of the ink cartridge has expired then you will get that message. Eventhough you refill it. You need to replace the ink cartridge itself.

According to posts on a another forum, you can fix this problem by unplugging the printer, removing the battery or sticking a business card between the battery and its contact point. It should work when you plug it back in.

Expired HP printer cartridges

I have the identical problem with an HP Business Inkjet 1100.

Once cartridges were past date, the printer would no longer print from Windows XP. It would however work perfectly from Linux.

I did not find an ini file as mentioned in other posts, and I really did not want to open the printer as it worked fine in Linux.

The following fixed the problem:

1) Click on Start button, run
2) Type in regedit, enter
3) Navigate to HKLM/software/Hewlett-Packard/HP Printers/HPWH Toolbox/Common
4) In the right panel, right click on Ink, pick modify
5) Change 0100 to 0000
6) Save and reboot

Top Solution thanks - Take that HP!

Slight amendment as battery is hard to remove:

The battery is accessed by opening top then can be seen on extreme left at front. No need to take it out, slip a strip of plastic like an old credit card under the clip on top of battery to insulate it. Then do a soft reset (# and 6 and power down) with the battery insulated. Power up - Power down, remove insulator power up. Eureka!
