The feed dog button does not seem to be connected to the feed dog.  When I try to get the feed dog up, nothing happens.  Any suggestions?

Here is your problem and how to fix it...
Look under your machine. Follow the shaft from your feed dog button to a bullet shaped pin that goes through a hole. It needs cleaning and oiling and freeing up. Its frozen from non-use and the oil is hard. Free this up, WD-40 or just a good dowsing with oil and tap it until it lets go. Just work it little by little. It will go.
Good luck.

Yesterday, while machine quilting, I heard a clank. Now the feed dogs won't feed the fabric. The feed dogs seem to move back when I start sewing; it seems as if they stayed forward before...

Did you check to make sure the feed dogs weren't inadvertently dropped. Most sewists drop the feed dogs for free motion quilting or darning.

Only a sewing tech can tell you:

If the feed dog height is too low, you have to get it serviced.

It the feed dogs are worn out, you can buy them and put them on yourself, but the repair shop would probably attach a new set while you wait with no labor charge.

I have a Bernina 630E. My feed dogs won't move up and down. When I push the button it seems to engage but nothing happens. Any suggestions on how I can fix it.

Hello: This may sound silly but do you use your FHS knee lifter? From what I am reading the FHS lowers the feed dogs automatically when used. If you aren't currently using the FHS, perhaps when you removed it, it was in the raised position.

I would check that and look under your bobbin area to see that there is nothing jammed in there. Barring that your best option is to call or take your machine into your qualified Bernina technician.

The dog feed stuck in the downward position.

Have you turned the machine off and then back on?

The switch may be broken and you will need to find a sewing machine repair shop that repairs all brands of sewing equipment.

If you decide to purchase another machine try a different brand. This one seems to have on a lot of issues.

Bernina 1008 feed dog problem.

Your machine needs oiling. The feeddogs are stuck. Could be in several places. You would have to remove the back and side covers to get to what needs cleaning and oiling. Especially behind that knob. Just removing the covers is a job so I can't recommend you do this unless your trained. But you can try. Don't forget the screws beneith the machine. But really, there is too much behind the handwheel for a novice to deal with. Maybe see if you can just let some sewing machine oil just run down behind the feedog knob and work it alot.
Good luck.

Start from the beginning and get the machine ready for embroidery. I found I had not put the feed dogs down when it happened to me

Problem with trac feeds

When you drop the feed dogs on most modern machines they do not return to the up position until the motor rotates one full turn. Your feed dog will then be up and ready to use.

Try the emboadery slide in the back of the machine, This happened to me you just need to slide it over to the other side. It dose tell you this in your book.
