Pour the water out and refill with vinegar and let it steam all of it through the holes then fill with water and let it steam through the holes to rinse the vinegar out.

Why is there brown thick liquid coming out or my iron, when I use the steam

Very dangerous situation. Rusted parts inside give the water that particular colour. Change the iron asap (as soon as possible), otherwise all your clothes will be the same colour.

Shark troubleshooting

Pour all the water out of the iron, and fill it with white vinegar. Heat it and let it spit vinegar for a while.

Chances are there is simply a bunch of crud in the iron from the water, most likely calcium carbonate. The vinegar is the cheap and easy fix, but if that does not do it you;ll have to bring out the "Big Gun" and use some "CLR" cleaner, available at most grocery or hardware stores.

"CLR" stands for "Calcium, Lime and Rust", and a small jug of it is about $6 USD, It will clean the crud out for sure.

Ironing seems to be a "lost art". Congratulations on being a smart desser!

Steam is escaping from underneath the iron, how to fix this?

Household irons can drip and spit out liquid water from the holes in the metal sole plate instead of producing steam if you have set the temperature too low. The obvious remedy is to increase the temperature, but this setting is not appropriate for all types of fabric. For example, the highest setting is generally recommended for removing wrinkles from cotton garments, and the lowest setting is generally safe for silk garments. Using the iron and its steam functions as the manufacturer intended can reduce or eliminate dripping. If that doesn't solve your problem, consider additional steam iron troubleshooting.

Rowenta Focus iron has only been used about 5 times. I use bottle water and iron spits out rust colored residue during steam cycle.

If you mean bottled drinking water, that is full of mineral salts, no good. Use demineralised or distilled water from the supermarket, it is cheap.

Yellow light flashes, colored water leaks. Assume

If the water is reddish or black looking the iron insides may be rusted out, and is bad enough that the seal has been compromised. This happens if water is left in iron when storing. If the iron is still warrantied return it to the store where it was purchased, or buy a new one.

Iron spits out rusty water. The iron is a Rowenta

Fill it with a mix of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Let it set for 30 minutes and steam it out for about 2 minutes. Unplug it and dump it. After it cools colpletely, fill it with water and steam it out. The rust is coming from your water supply, not the iron.

Iron spitting out brown water

I'm afraid the brown water is rust if it is I would chuck the iron and buy a new one.

If it's just scale then mix "Lime Away" 50/50 with water pour it in the opening where you put the water in for steam, turn it on low and let it sit for a few hours, rinse it three or four times and then try the steam again.
