Still waiting for a response concerning the ink cartredges I bought for my lexmark 2500 and I get an error message saying the cartredges are wrong. The b ox includes lexmark x2500 as compatable to my printer. Please help!
No kidding, uh? That is exactly what the problem is! Thank you so mush for your help. I never would have figured that out! I can't believe that Circuit City doesn't tell their consumers they have to buy their ink from them. It's unbelievable and frustrating! So, what did you do? I mean I bought black and color cartridges from Staples which now of course, are opened! Did Circuit City or whom ever you bought your cartridges from do anything to compensate you? Or was it just one of those maddening "lesson learned" situations? Again, thank you. I look forward to hearing back from you about how you handled the problem.

If you bought your printer as part of a pakage from Circuit City it may use cartridges only supplied by them. In that case it's a #2 and a # 3. I had the same problem, they don't tell you that though.
I only opened one cartridge, since the other one still had ink in it. I took it back to Best Buy and they refunded me my money back. It is a pain though those things are expensive! plus they should tell you that you can only use their cartridges. I won't make that mistake again. Below are the correct cartridge part #'s for your Lexmark X2500 Black Cartridge 28A Color Cartridge 29A Photo Cartridge 31 High Yield Black Cartridge 34 High Yield Color Cartridge 35
If your cartridge/s are not being detected when you installed it;
Open the cover of the printer and unsnap both cartridges.
Snap them back in after a few seconds. Close the cover.
Repeat these steps (1-2) three or more times in succession. You
will be prompted to go through the menu on the printer display to
finish the process. Follow the instructions displayed.

If the ink cartridges you purchased are not Lexmark - that could be the problem. I used to have a Lexmark printer and I did the same thing - I purchased ink cartridges that were compatible but not Lexmark brand. Everything seemed fine until I tried to print and then I would get the same error sign and low ink message and it would not print. I kept thinking I was doing something else wrong and tried everything. In the end I broke down and got ink cartridges from Lexmark and that solved the problem. Now I have a Brother printer and I never buy anything other than Brother ink cartridges because I'm always afraid of that same thing happening again. I wish I knew which printers WOULD accept those non name brand ink cartridges, but thus far I do not know of any printers that do. Hope this helps you.
take out the cartridge , turn off your printer and take out all the cables behind your printer and wait for 5 minutes and put everything back in.. if the same error shows.. im sorry but your printer needs to be replaced.
I have a Lexmark printer too, and after my original Lexmark ran out of ink, I bought some off of eBay (off brand, not original Lexmark ink), and I get the message I am not using original Lexmark ink, and it is not covered by warranty. There is no way to remove this message, unfortunately.
OMG! The cartridges are so expensive. I've tried to refill the cartridge myself and it put up an error message too. The only thing i did was splurge and bought a new cartridge!! Sorry.
to whom it may concern, I owe a lexmark x5070 and all of the sudden it doesn't work it doesn't come on nor has any signs of power can you tell me what has posibly wrong with it. thank you for your earliest response to thi message.
Try cleaning the copper plates and install back again if the same message pops up try single cartridge if the error exits with 2 cartridges ,replace the cartridge as lexmark cart has 1 year warranty..
If the contacts are different, then you may have bought a damaged cartridge, or just simply the wrong cartridge and this would explain why your printer cannot recognise the cartridge.
Make sure you bought the same number Lexmark cartridge as the old one. Return it to the store as a damaged cartridge if it is the exact same cartridge. Lexmark would not change the design of a working cartridge to exclude customers from using a printer.
