I was also having same problem with my asus laptop . i just contacted to asus tech support and they have fixed my problem instantly. hope they will help you as well.
First you can try duster spray for electronics to blow out any dust in the vents of laptops. If this doesn't help - there is laptop fans - portable that you put under the laptop itself to help with ventilation problems. If this doesn't help then watch a video on how to take apart your laptop - simple steps, un screw the back and take off cover, once done locate fan and use duster to blow out dust. Screw everything back together and turn on laptop. If this doesn't fix your problem and fan still doesn't work, then you may need a new fan = take this to a professional pc repair shop where they can replace it for you. I recommend MicroCenter (which is a all pc repair shop) stores located everywhere. look it up (www.microcenter.com)
If you can reset the laptop - restore the PC to the set date of installation of software.
If this wont help I suggest that you seek help from the dealer as the set is under warranty . It might have a corrupt OS or the drivers need to be reinstalled.
first of all, did you shut down the laptop compltely since that happened? sometimes there's a lot of stupid things happening with computers-suddenly drivers stop working etc. Try restart the computer if you haven't done so before.
if that doesn't help, install the drivers from Toshiba site. I can help you find the drivers if you can tell me which exact model you have of the laptop, and if you know the exact model of the sound card it would really help

The simplest way to do this would be to: First turn off the laptop and then connect the keyboard to the laptop while it is still off. Then turn on the laptop and it should work as the computer installs the software from the keyboard onto the computer as it boots up. This should work.
