OK -- there 's only one "spec". The problem arose because the polarity was not identified on the case at the jack on the back of the unit where the adapter power plug gets inserted.

Yes the adapter is labeled clearly, but my problem is I don't know if the adapter came with the modem. And now I can tell you I just now stumbled on the answer at where it tells which cable modems are compatible with which adapters -- and gives the center pin polarity. And -- it's positive. thanks for your help.

Thank you, this is very helpful. It's good to have independent confirmation and I appreciate the trouble you took.

It isn't on the adaptor itself?

I got the same model at home and I'm on Pacific time. I can find out by 6 pst.

Am not getting any power using adapter model ad 5v/2f? is this a faulty model?

Have someone with a multimeter check the adapter, but if it does not work it is more likely to be the adapter than the device. Check what voltage and polarity it supplies, it will be written on the adapter the polarity may be shown on the device, usually centre positive, and see if you have an adapter from another device with similar or even slightly lower voltage which you can try. I hope that helps

Power supply polarity for Viking K-2000-DVA

The center pin of the power jack on the unit is negative (-) 12 volts DC. It is also common to all of the input common terminals. This is important when using a common power supply for other equipment such as 12 volt battery backed system for an alarm system.

I have an RCA Modem with an AC power input. 4 pin Can you tell me what voltage the input is and what frequency?

It should be on the power adapter itself after output.
If your in the US it's 120V 60 Hz.
Why are you asking about frequency?

Input voltage for Boca 56K tidalwave external modem

There should be a input voltage and polarity (pin) diagram next to the power input socket. Normally 12 volt, but don't quote me on that as I just replaced my modem, like for like and the old one was 12v. and the new one 25v. so if you can eliminate your power adapters one by one by the manufacturers names on each, then thats your best bet.
