The presser foot is actually the lever and foot that holds the fabric down around the needle, working in conjunction with the feeddogs (from below) to advance the fabric forward as it is stitching, you may well have troubles with the Foot Control.

It may also be a fuse........does the light come on, is it blown....was there a power surge when the machine was plugged in (even if not switched on)

There are many things it could be, but........

Basics first, ensure the machine is plugged in properly and switched on.......to be certain the socket outlet is OK, try it with a lamp or something you know works in a different socket.

If it looks like the foot control does have troubles and all the power, switches & etc are fine otherwise, I suggest you contact your local Singer dealer and ask about replacement or inspection........this is mains power we are dealing with........you also may know a qualified friend etc to will be competent to check the device, great, ........just beware of playing with things you do not have adequate knowledge of yourself, especially when there may be lethal consequences if you get it wrong.

No knob to adjust presser foot pressure. Space between feed dogs & presser foot is too tight to pull a piece of fabric out with foot down. Diagonal seams get pushed out.

You should not be able to pull fabric from the machine when the presser foot is down. The presser foot should always be raised before removing the fabric.

Are you trying to darn or quilt something without the feed dogs activated? If so, there are special presser feet for that purpose that are shorter in height (ie darning foot) which allow more space between the presser foot and the stitch plate so the fabric can be moved freely.

Husquvarna tension disc diamond deluxe how do i know if their loose

When the machine is threaded, raise the presser foot. The tension disks will release when the presser foot is up. If the thread is hard to pull with the pressed foot down it should be working. If not, there might be lint or something caught between the tension disks.

Walking Foot Trouble

sounds to me like you are getting what I call "flagging" of the material... where a tiny bur or something catches the material and pulls it up. If possible increase the presser a bit on the presser foot. You might also have the wrong foot for the machine or simply a defective one.

Also when it does this... do you notice any bobbin thread on top of the seam?

Presser foot stopped working I turned

Did you connect your machine then press the foot control before you lowered you presser foot? I have a CS6000 and that is what E1 means on my machine. You did not put your model number in so I don't know. You can look in your manual or go online to www.brother-usa.com and look it up for your machine. Try unplugging and plugging it in again, but put your presser foot down then step on your foot pedal.

Beginner on a sewing machine just got a Euro- Pro from my aunt having a hard time getting it to sew something. I threaded it and ready to go now it wont sew soooo what might be wrong with it?

See if you can find your model here and refer to the instructions to see if you missed something when you threaded the machine - http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Threading_Diagrams.htm

Always thread a sewing machine with the presser foot up so the thread enters the tension so it will properly work when the foot is down for sewing.

Check the needle to be sure it is inserted correctly - this is usually with the flat side facing the back of the machine.

Hold onto the thread tail at the needle and handwalk the needle down and back up, which will bring up the bobbin thread.

Hold onto both threads and pull them under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.

Place the fabric under the presser foot. Lower the foot and move the needle down into the fabric - press the foot pedal.

My sewing machine is flashing E1 AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT Dottie

Error code E1:Make sure the presser foot is lowered before sewing.

In order to get this error the foot controller has to be pressed (or the start/stop button was pressed if the foot controller is not connected), and the reverse/reinforcement stitch button needs to be pressed while the presser foot was raised.

The only solution offer by Brother is to lower the presser foot lever before continuing.

This seems a bit simplistic so assuming you tried that already
Check to make sure there is no tangled thread interfering with the take-up lever.

This seems to be a common problem and it may be related to a computer issue rather then a mechanical fault.

In this case you may need to have the machine serviced.
I hope something here helps. I will investigate more and if I discover anything else I will pass it on.

you may need to have the machine serviced.

Faulty presser foot lifter on a singer 2110/2112.

I have seen these machines with broken presser bar clamps (something inside the head). If it is just a bind then some oil on the presser bar may work, if the clamp is broken then it is probably not worth fixing.
Good luck!

Presser foot lever

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls try a reset. This could be accomplish by unplugging the SE-270D from the mains. After an extended period, plug back in and power on normally. In some variations, there would be a reset button/key/switch.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
