Question about GE JBP69 Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Electronic control pad

The timer feature on the control pad has become increasingly difficult to use because the “plus” pad does not respond unless using strong pressure. Now it doesn’t respond at all. It also is becoming difficult to reset the oven temperature with the same “plus” pad. The range is 3 1/2 yrs old but I cannot find warrenty coverage for electronic controls.

If you are handy enough you can replace the switches or make ur own, if the range is under warranty i covers everything except a sledge hammer to the control knobs :)

The numbers 9 and 0 do not respond on the control pad.

Hi.

Use a multimeter to test the solder joints and the connector between control pad and electronic control module. Check that the solder joints and cable connector has continuity (impedance is not infinity between the two points of connector or between soldering and pin on board). If the connector on main control module is OK replace the control pad.

Here all parts and diagrams for this model.

Regards.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

Error code F1 indicates electronic control failure and is displayed due to electronic oven control failure and the only way to solve this problem is by replacing the control board which is bad. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

failure of the touch pad unfortunately is a very common issue with the microwave ovens. there is not much that could be done except to change the pad. As a last resor tyou can open and look for the connection of the pad to the main board to be bad. clean the board especially if there is any signs of insects/ cockroaches within. clean and check. What you can also try is to slowly open the pad and make up the tracks with a carbon pen which could be bought from an electronic shop. This must be used in the suspected buttons which fails to respond. Hope this will help. Good day

Malfunctioning Display and Start Button for Oven

The problem is with your Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board and/or keyboard overlay. All the oven features are controlled by the EOC. That's why you're experiencing problems with the oven operations, while the surface burners should be working fine. The cost of a new EOC varies between models. I tried to do a parts search, but could not find any information with the model number you provided. Double check your model number again. It should be located on a nameplate somewhere around the oven door or lower drawer opening. On some models, this information will be located on the back of the range.

To locate parts information, you can go to either searspartsdirect.com or repairclinic.com. Just type in your COMPLETE model number in the Search menu. The part may be listed as an "Electronic Oven Control", "Oven Control", "Main Control", or "Timer Control". Both sites offer competitive pricing, but the Sears site has helpful illustrations that make part identification and assembly much easier.

Do you have a current warranty? Unless you purchased an extended warranty or service plan with your range, most manufacturers only provide a one-year limited warranty. In some cases, however, the manufacturer may have extended coverage on certain items. It may be worth while to refer to your owner's manual to see if there is any warranty information available.

If you go to geappliances.com there is some helpful information under the "Service & Support" heading in the drop down listing under the "Search" window. In addition, there are toll free numbers provided to assist you with any questions you may have.

I hope you find this information helpful to you. Replacing the part yourself will reduce the cost of the repair greatly (if not covered under warranty). Let me know if you decide to repair this yourself and need further instructions.

GE Profile JGB97 Self Cleaning Oven Controls won't work

It sounds like the controls have been placed into a lockout mode. If your model is a JGBP79 do the following:
1) Press the BAKE and BROIL HI/LO pads at the same time for 3 seconds until the
display shows SF.
2) Press the SELF CLEAN pad. The display will show LOC OFF.

Now here is where the directions are kind of confusing, I will give it as they say it:

3) Press the SELF CLEAN pad again. The display will show LOC.
4) Press the START pad to activate the control lockout feature and leave
the control set in this special features mode.

Seems to me if its locked already, you would just do steps 1 and 2. And if you wish to lock it do steps 1 thru 4.

LED display not working

Did somebody use the control lock by accident. Here is how to disable it. Hopefully it will work: The Control Lock feature shuts down the control panel pads to avoid unintended use of the oven. The Control Lock feature may be used either when the range is in use or turned off (for example, during cleaning). To lock/unlock control: Before locking, make sure the oven, the timer, and Timed Cooking are off. Press and hold the START pad for 5 seconds until ?CONTROL LOCK? appears on the display. Repeat to unlock, and ?CONTROL LOCK? will disappear from the display. Hope this helps Jason
