You never told us which model scope you have?

However-- put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser. Practice focusing on a distant object during the day time. Turn the knob slowly in each direction until you get a sharp image in the eyepiece. Just as you would do with an old film style camera.

What do I turn. The knob on the side just tightens the screw. Do I turn the eyepices itself?

AGAIN! What is the model number or BRAND name of your telescope.

All telescopes have a focuser with KNOBS -- turn the knob.

Can I use this telescope to view the solar eclipse and if so, how do I do this safely?

Only if you have a white light filter. You can make one or you can buy one, I have done both.
Here are a couple of helpful links. The first one explains white light filters.

This link is a place that sells the material.

Eyepieces come in 3 sizes. .975, 1.25, and 2 inch. Your scope probably has a 1.25 inch hole-- eyepieces are sold by many different on-line retailers; here is one:

I have no manual for my galaxsee 45-060525

This is a simple small refractor telescope. Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope. DO NOT USE the 2 x barlow if you have one.

Practice focusing on a distant object during the daytime- you are not focusing the scope properly.

Rented home in NC mtns for a week, came equipped with Meade Telestar 114AZ telescope but don't even know how to start!!! I mean, do I ''turn it on'' or what? Help...always wanted to take a closer look at...

You may want to check with the owner; those white things, are most likely the eyepieces that are used in the telescope. Start with ones that are the lowest power (longest focal length) until you get used to it. The small side telescope is the finder, and will help get objects into view in the main telescope, assuming the cross hairs are aligned.

I keep on seeing white and dots every time i look in the telescope

Are the white dots in the same place? You may have dust on your lens.
Take note if the spots move, if they do then I'm sorry it could be your eye...but if they are in the same place no matter where you are looking it would most likely be dust (or something) on the lens.
