My remote does not work

I recently moved and now my remote control does not work. I put in a new battery thinking that was the issue - but it still does not work. Any idea what the issue is? Otherwise is there some way to make my disc play without the remote?

Reset remote. If universal remote, put on dvd mode.

  • If your remote has a Reset button, take out the batteries and press the Reset button for 2 or 3 seconds. Re-inset the batteries and try using the remote again.
  • Note: Many remotes have a small hole marked Reset instead of a raised Reset button. To activate the Reset function, you need to push a thin, rigid wire (for example, a straightened paper clip) into the hole to "press" the Reset button. Also, the Reset button or Reset hole may be located under a sliding cover on the lower section of the remote.
  • Remove the batteries and hold down the POWER button for 1 minute. Insert fresh batteries and try using the remote control again.
  • If this does not solve your problem, remove the batteries again and press and release each button on the remote control once, then repeat. Re-insert the batteries and try operating your remote again.

Otherwise you need a new remote. If under warranty call manufacture to see about getting one free of charge. They can also help you purchase a new one if not under warranty.

Unfortunately, the contacts under the buttons, with a lot of use wear out.
I would suggest as a replacement the "One for all" brand. They will operate mos anything.
http://www.amazon.com/One-All-Learning-Universal-Control/dp/B00083ET5G/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1323013754&sr=1

I have bought several of the above over the years. Inexpensive, but very good.

Need manual for this product. trying to get original remote to operate receiver only. not worried about other components. remote lights up but wont operate receiver. i think it needs re programed. help!

You don't say what happens when you use front panel controls. This is possibly not a remote control issue.

But if it is...

Try this advice:

"Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved
How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control
This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!
-----------------------------
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
Step 5- Try the remote.
Special Note:
If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the unit.
If it works, Great!
If not, it's time to call 1-800-Remotes or use this website to order a new remote.
Find new or replacement remotes:
http://remotes.com/store/codes_original.html
or eBay: search for "(model) remotes", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

The lights on my dvr remote do not come on when I push them in the dark. How can I fix this?

Have you checked to ensure there are fresh batteries in your remote control? Do all the remote functions work correctly? Has this issue recently become a problem? Does it appear that the only problem with the remote is that the buttons do not light up when you are pressing them or is there other remote control issues? If you replace the batteries or have already replaced the batteries and this continues to be a problem, then the remote is most likely defective and we may need to send you a replacement remote. If this problem hasn't been resolved yet and you need assistance getting a new remote ordered for you, please feel free to e-mail me @ Kirstie.Filosa@DISHnetwork.com, and I will be more then happy to help you in getting a new remote sent out to you. I hope this helps!

Sony RM-ASP001 for 400 disk changer stopped working

Try the command code switch. I recently had a similar problem when my remote suddenly stopped working. It worked fine one time but nothing the next time I tried it.

I checked the emitter with a digital camera and found it was not working. I did the remote reset (remove batteries and push all the buttons twice, reinsert batteries) and the emitter was now working. However, the remote would still not control the base unit. I did the remote base code reset (push power, volume and TV/DVD buttons together) but this did not help. I then checked the command code switch. This is a small three position slide switch located in the battery compartment on the remote. I slid the switch back and forth several times returning to the default number one setting where it was before. I did not change anything on the base unit but the remote now worked.

Hope this helps.

We have recently moved home and our nintendo wii remotes have stopped working. i have checked all the connections and have put new batteries in them

Make sure the Wii is plugged in correctly and the light on the power button is on.
open the small panel in the front of the Wii and open the battery panel at the bottom of the Wii remote
and press the red buttons together
If you had been suffering from batteries lasting a little while then Nintendo will replace the controller for free
