I've had problems using a widescreen monitor with certain programs/devices when my horizontal resolution is set high enough (for example: 1024), but my vertical resolution is too low (for example: 700). This may be your problem check the display settings and increase if necessary.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks,

Steve G.

Zoom on desktop

Try Right Clicking on a empty space on the desktop and select Properties. Click the Settings Tab and go change the screen resolution. The higher the resolution, the smaller the icons. Normal resolution is about 1024x768, but you can make the icons even smaller by increasing the resolution.

If you can't get into the screen resolution that way, turn off the computer and boot up into safe mode.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal.

When the computer boots up click Start/Control Panel or Start/Settings Control Panel and look for Desktop or Appearance and Personalization.
Look for Screen Resolution or open the desktop and click the Settings tab. Make the resolution higher to make the icons smaller. Normal is 1024x768 but you can make it higher.

In Windows 7 just click Start and in the search box type: Screen Resolution. Look up at the top for the returned search results and click on Screen Resolution. Go in and set the resolution higher.

After you change the resolution reboot and let windows go into it's normal boot up mode.

I have an HP Pavillion xd 7000. Won't go full screen when watching videos. I tried f-11 and right click on video but that just opened a box.

If the resolution of your video doesn't match the resolution of your screen, it will be smaller.

Go to desktop, right click away from any icons.

Click personalise or properties.

Go into your screen settings and lower the resolution.

When tried to open HP Media Smart to use webcam, is says cannot open and says something about display resoution and even tried with all the possible display resolution. Any suggestions will be...

Your screen resolution need to be set i am not sure what operating system are you using but you can right click on the screen/ desktop, click on property, click on settings then you will set the resolution to either 1024 x 768 if you still have the problem you can set it to 1280 x 768 this should solve the resolution problem. As for the webcam and the hp media smart you should uninstall and reinstall the software/driver for the webcam and the hp Media Smart if you have the CD with the drivers/software you can use it to reinstall the drivers on the computer this should solve the problem.

What would cause Windows Media Player 11 to NOT display? It shows up in the taskbar, and audio is heard but it will not come up on the screen. No new programs have been loaded and I have done a complete...

This may happen as a result of having made a screen resolution change, especially from a large resolution to a smaller one. Other times, it's a glitch in the programming, though I haven't witnessed one in XP, Vista or better. Try switching to the highest resolution possible and set it. If you now see the Media Player window display, reduce its size to about half, and then reset the resolution to what it was before. Then close the Media player window and restart. It should open to the same exact size as the last time you used it.
Good luck!

On puttin on my web cam it said ''hp mediasmart webcam does not support a screen resolution smaller than 1024x768, and i am not able to start web cam.

Click on your desktop and set your screen resolution to that size 1024x768, but I don't believe that’s the case cause most web cameras only put out 300 bit pictures but try it maybe it will work and afterwards you should be able to open the properties of the camera to change resolution

Media Player 9 on ipaq hx4700

The 4700 has a 480 x 640 pixels display and WMP9 will not compensate for the smaller resolution videosthus the less than full screen size play back on video with less than the 480 x 640 pixels size resolution. There is a program that will play the smaller res. videos in full screen on your PDA try TCPMP its free, go here: http://corecodec.org/projects/tcpmp
