TV SET ON STAND BY?

Hello,

I hope you can help? I have the above flat screen phillips TV with e-box receiver. When switching my TV on, it initially starts to power up as it normally does, the reciver box light turns green and the then the main TV Light situated on the TV automatically after about 10+ secs defaults back to standby?

Once this happends the LED light on the TV itself constantly flashes red and does not come on?

I have checked all the connections and unplugged and replugged everything back in to no avail! - It's a plama 42inch but there is power going into both the reciever and the screen itself?

I have aimed the remote control at the TV and pressed every button, (Wether that is making it worse - I apologise!!), but I am scratching my head with complete dispair.

Please help - any tips/advice will be greatly appreciated

This is to do with the capacitors inside the TV numbers 2662, 2663 and 2664 - If you unscrew the back panel of the tv you will see the capacitors towards the top of the tv, from memory around the middle.

Replace the capacitors (make sure you get the polarity the right way round) and you should find all is ok.

If you have DISH Network equipment, you can try a check switch test on your receiver so the receiver can update its information from the satellite. With the DISH remote press the Menu button which will display Main Menu on the TV screen.

Press 6 (System Setup), 1 (Installation), and 1(Point Dish). Highlight the CHECK SWITCH button on the upper right of the screen and press the Select button on remote. On the Installation Summary screen, highlight the TEST button at the bottom of screen and press the Select button on the remote. This will initiate the test. Allow the test to complete. Once completed, exit out of each screen till you get Acquiring Satellite Signal on TV screen. After acquisition completion, allow it to download the program guide. If this doesn't fix the problem, you may need a new receiver. I hope this helps.

Cannot swtich on the tv

I think you mean ' switch ' and ' only the red light ' ( power ) comes on.
It could be an internal trip on your tv set that needs looking at by a tv engineer ( normally parts required ) or if you have a tv with a ' factory settings button ' on it ( normally on the side or top if it's a flat screen tv ) press and hold for 10 seconds then the intial ' tv setup ' will appear on the screen ; after that, just follow the guide.
Hope this helps.

No antenna reception with digital converter box.

Hello Faznmc,

I have found that with an ordinary antenna connected to the converter box it can receive nearly all channels, however I have run into cases where I had to use an amplified TV antenna to pick up signals. I have started telling folks that when they install their converter boxes to try to use the plain old rabbit ears antenna, but if that does not work, use an amplified antenna, and that usually does the trick.

I hope this helps
Thank you,

The no signal message is there because the screen is waiting for a signal from the receiver, it then switches into protection mode (flashing red). The usual cause is a blown protection fuse inside the receiver.
