I have a Kennmore refrigerator thats just over a year old where the ice maker has stopped working. There is ice in the tray however it will not dump it out. I removed the front cover of the ice maker and manually turned the small gear with a screw driver to start the cycle. It dumped the ice then then the ice tray rotated around and filled with water. I waited 24 hours and it still does not dump the ice. The ice maker lever bar is in the down position. The freezer seems cold enough to freeze ice however it does not dump it. Do you know whats wrong with the ice maker? Model 253.7481240K

SOURCE: Trouble with ice-maker

Either the inlet valve is stuck or the icemaker solenoid is shored.

Most likely the second one.

SOURCE: Will not dump tray...stops at 2:00 position, will not advance

Possible cause of this is. 1st the heater is out. 2nd the motor in the icemaker has a dead spot. If heater then the complete icemaker should be replaced. If motor I would replace the faceplate.Part #150 Should be around $55 for part. You can find parts by visiting u-line at www.u-line.com and under customer service you will see parts locator.

SOURCE: GE TBX21ji Refridgerator/Freezer Factory Icemaker quit making ice

Normally, when the temp of the icemaker gets to about 14 degrees F, the icemaker goes into the harvest mode, turning on the mold heater and attempting to eject the cubes. When the heater has warmed the mold sufficiently to release the cubes, the ejector can continue and push out the cubes, then the icemaker fills with fresh water to beging to make a batch of ice again. Manually starting the cycle as you have done only allows the cycle to start without the temp sensor seeing the 14 degrees. The mold heating generally takes a couple minutes. If your mold heater or the temp sensor are not working, you will have to replace the icemaker, as they are not available as a repair parts.

Could be an open circuit to the ice tray sensor. This is the wire under the ice tray. It is flexed during each cycle and can fatigue easily. I found this condition on a three year old unit. A simple solder repair and heat shrink tube corrected the problem.

Ice maker is slow to make ice. It dumps sometimes. it builds a large mountain of forzen ice that mounds up under the tray. even though we remove it it always comes back. ice is also runnig down the...

Ice maker problems are almost always a problem. Sometimes I will locate an issue and fix it and then it will work for a short period and then break again. So, now I just replace the ice maker as a general rule. This is much more likely for success. However, the replacement ice maker is often not an exact match. And again, the this and the that sometimes causes problems. I will never accept a new customer on the grounds that I am going to fix their home ice maker. Make sure the ice machine is getter water like it is supposed to. Check the filter and the tubes. If the problem persists, get a new ice maker. If that ice maker angers you, get some ice cube trays.

Freezer stopped making ice cubes

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it dumps , then replace the dual water valve behind the refrig . If it does not dump the frozen cubes , replace the ice maker .

Not putting water into ice maker to make ice

Try pouring 1/2 cup of water into the icemaker and if it dumps ice , then the water valve or fill tube is the problem . If it does not dump , then the icemaker is the problem , or , freezer is not cold enough . Check your coils under the refrig to make sure they are clean and the fan that cools the compressor is working ( and the freezer fan also ) .
