It means that is something wrong, most surely with te AC/DC adaptor. Try with other compatible adaptor or take the laptop to service.

Battery wont charge and will not power without battery

It sounds like you have a bad power supply (power cord). If you already know someone that can charge your battery, check if their power supply will fit. It probably will. Make sure the plugs (into the laptop) are the same, and make sure the output voltage is the same on both power supplies.

Hi My Dell M1530 doesn't start up The battery is fully charged, the power cord is working good(the light is on) but the laptop doesn' give a sign that is connected to power

There could be a problem with the battery. A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop & see if it works.
If the laptop works directly from the power adapter with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case we can suspect that the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.

Dell inspiron 1300 does not see the battery

remove battery check if laptop works fine with ac adapter, if not then download the latest bios version first if fails then replace ac adapter. If laptop works fine with ac adapter. but cannot work with battery alone, download the latest bios then charge the battery for 6 hrs. if still batt not charging then replace batt. but as you mentioned you already replaced the batt and your still getting the same issue. replace motherboard.

Dell D520 wont power up

Hi,

Thanks for using FixYa!

I've worked with Dell tech support for a year and whenever we get this kind of problem ( No power when AC adapter is connected ) the culprit is usually loose power terminal or bad battery. If you have a spare battery and it still doesn't charge or turn ON with that. Then you've already isolated the problem. You have a loose power terminal. If your laptop is still under warranty, you'd better contact dell right away. They will give you free troubleshooting and service for that problem. If your laptop is out of warranty. You might want to just bring it to a local shop and have the power terminals re-soldered.

Have a nice day.

My Dell Latitude D600 Battery is not working? My original battery blinks orange but every other light blinks when you press the gauge button to see the power and the battery will not charge but my ac...

I can understand. But here is a very strict word of caution for you. I hope you must have already heard about spoiled battery cases from many vendors like Lenovo, Compaq & Dell also. In that case, all these companies have decided to change laptop's battery for free. Please check out if your battery also falls under same category of faulty batteries.

If yes then contact Dell Customer care for assistance & replacement of battery because it may turn out as an explosion also !!!

If this solution was helpful to you then please rate 100% (or FIXYA) for this solution, otherwise don't rate at all. It was my pleasure helping you.

Dell inspiron 1501

Hi there
Take the battery out and start the laptop up on AC power only, set the correct date, time and time zone, shut down the PC and remove the power jack, wait about 30 seconds then power it up on AC only again, If the date and time has changed the the cmos battery has run out and needs replacing. If it keeps date and time the problem is the battery or the powerboard controller that charges the battery is defective. If the battery is getting a charge, run the battery completely out of charge, then try to charge it again.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!
