Question about Ovens

1 Answer

I did a self clean for 5 hours yesterday on my upper oven and almost when it was completed it showed an error code of F9, I cleared that and then it came up with an F2 error code 9 times. After it stopped the F2 it remained locked even after the cool down. I shut off the circuit breaker for 30 seconds and it still was locked. While at work today the breaker was off for close to 6 hours. I was able to open the door but after the door was closed it locked back up again and it is showing flashing locked on the panel.

Chris15640,

I am so sorry, for your delema...
If I was around at the time you purchased your unit i would have told you, "NEVER USE THE SELF-CLEANER," Because it uses a much higher tempuature then the wires can handle..
There maybe a wire or two burnt and the computer sees them at a low resistance and the computer is not letting operate an unsafe oven.
You need to remove oven from the wall... Check ALL wires and also check the thermistat probe at the connection with the electrical. If thermistat has a resistance, OK, If no reading.. replace thermistat. If you feel that all wire are OK put back oven and if it does not let you bake,... replace computer. That is Very costly

F9 error code appears within two hours of self clean cycle

F9 error code on GE ovens is usually caused by a problem in the door lock/latch system for the self clean. You state it happens about 2 hrs into the clean cycle. My guess is the the control is not sensing that the door is actually locked. Could be several reasons. Bad door lock motor, Bad switch that senses the door is latched, or is some cases the main control board could have a problem and is just not reading the door is locked. You need someone with the right knowledge to trouble shoot which part is actually bad since it could several different problems.

What does F9 mean

Failure to clean code
I have two Monogram ovens but they are not adjacent to each other top and bottom but are separate in different areas of the counter. I did the self clean for both ovens for the first time and one oven had the F9 error code about 1 hour and 45 min into the clean and the other did not sound a code.

Code f9 on frigidaire self cleaning oven. what does it mean. i went to clean the oven and the door locked and the code f9 came up and keeps beeping. i unplugged the stove for 1/2 hour and plugged it...

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. F9 error in your oven/range indicates an issue with the door locks assembly and/or the door latch. To start with check the door lock circuit, you can also try to jump start it to see if it's working. If it's not working then the Electronic Range control has gone bad and should be replaced, if it is working then the door lock circuit should be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Oven door locked.

The F9 code indicates there is a problem with the door lock.

Try disconnecting the power to the range for 10 seconds and reconnecting. Open the oven door and hold the door switch plunger in while you try these things. Put the control into clean for 5 minutes then cancel clean. You must hold the door switch plunger in for the 5 minutes.

Try canceling the clean cycle without putting the control into clean.

Oven door will not lock to clean

hi, these two codes together are signaling a EOC failure. the electronic oven control has failed and you will need to replace the EOC/clock. it is unable to initiate any commands because, it in a frozen state.

You can try to reset this control by unplugging the entire unit for 5 minutes. if the control continues to not reaspond to your commands, replace the EOC.

please rate and god bless:)

Wolf Double Oven

I had the same problem with a Wolf L-Series double wall oven (Model DO30) and called for service (under extended warranty contract). The tech told me that the F1 error is a latch problem (you know the one that grabs and locks the door during self-clean cycles). He cleared the error using a series of "secret" button presses on the control panel and the problem cleared. Now, when it happens (which isn't very frequently), I do the same thing he did ... press "0" and "Temperature" for the oven causing the problem and hold them for about 5 seconds. The oven will ding and the display will show some diagnostics, including the error event. Press "Cook Time" and "Stop Time" while in this diagnostic mode to clear the error register, then press "Off". I've also tried to keep the area across the top of the oven opening clean (with a little degreaser), especially around the latch, and I've sprayed a bit of WD-40 into the latch periodically for lubrication and cleaning.

Amana EvenAir Convection Plus Self Cleaning Oven will not unlock.

My oven was locked and would not open. No lock light was on but the oven was clearly locked. F9 error when I hit certain buttons.

Try this. I unplugged the oven for about 5 minutes. Plugged back in. A LOCK light came on. Held down "Oven Cancel" for a few seconds. Door opened and lock light went off. No more F9 error when I hit those buttons.
