Question about Nintendo NES Console

2 Answers

Original nes I have an original nes, and up to recently it has worked fine.  The nes has been in storage for the past couple of years (still in the packaging).  I have just brought it out again, and when trying to turn the nes on, the light doesn't come on, and the system doesn't work. So how do I fix this?

The power light comes on now, but it is flashing.  The screen is now black with lines going up and down the screen.

I'm not getting anywhere by blowing out the cartridges.  I have done that to all of the games I own and I do not get a picture. I have used two cans of air.

I have also tried using the av cables, but it is the same thing as the rf connector.

Did you plug a little grey box into the back of the TV to the Coax connector?

What happens when you change the channel to 3 or 4 while you have a cartridge in the NES?

Make sure you have a controller plugged into the player 1 spot.

That works too. I remember I used to have a cartridge cleaner and alcohol for those things.

Its switched to the correct channel.

If you have a set of av cables that might work better if your tv can work with it. In case the RF modulator is bad.

There must be something really wrong with it for it to behave that way. Maybe you can find a work model on EBay.

Does the original Nintendo NES-001 require a certain AC adapter. Cause I doesn't have the original ac adapter with same spec. My console power light is blinking on an doff. can that be the issuept

As long as it's 9 volt and about 500mA it should be ok. Just seen an original that says 9 volt and 400mA.

The current (mA) can be higher than the original but not the voltage that has to be 9.

1000mA = 1 Amp. So anything over 400mA is fine, but not less.

NES Glitching after New 72 Pin

You may have to face the possibility that the NES internal graphics card is old and now irreparably damaged. Unless you can procure and install another one, then the console may just be on its last legs

Original NES image problems

Courtesy of Nintendo Repair Shop, try this site out I heard they are pretty reliable. Sounds to me like a new connector is in order for your NES. They tend to go after a while and the connections get worn out. Here is the link:

Give it a shot and rate me when you can. Thanks.

Porblem with my recently purchased nes

Make sure your tv is set to the correct input mode. Also, if the power light is flashing with a game in it's because the 72 pin connector for the games in the console is dirty and worn out. You need to install a new one AND clean your games. Dirty games will just transfer dirt to the new connector.

NES in Black and white only...?!

Thats quite a odd issue, and I have never heard or seen a case such as this. Maybe your color balance chip is fried? NES is a 20+ year old system, so I wouldn't doubt the NES may have more issues then just a lockout chip error or a new pin connector.

Audio problem with NES

try switching both the tv and the rf switch to ch.4, if that doesn't help make sure that there is nothing connected to the in port on the rf switch and try it again, also make sure the connector of the rf switch has a straight pin and not bent too badly, also make sure the pin does not look tarnished/corroded in any way, also check the connector at the end that connects to the nes, i would try changing the rf adapter before the console, if the power cord is in good shape everything else should be easy to find a replacement for. if you hae a snes try changing the rf adapters, or try using rca type cables, the out ports are on the side of the nes and most likely on the back or front of your tv.
