Question about GE Kitchen Ranges

2 Answers

I have a GE gas range, Model # JGS905TEK1WW, serial # F1225802Q, which was installed in my new home in Mar/Apr 2006. I store items in the drawer. One of these items, a stove-top griddle, has a curved handle. This handle impacts the front upper edge of the drawer opening when I try to open the drawer. It appears to be impossible to push this handle downward in order to pull the drawer out completely. Please tell me how I can access this space to remove the offending griddle.

Thanks for your response, but the drawer will open only 1 inch, so no screws are visible or accessible. What other suggestions do you have? Could I move the stove out from the wall and remove the back plate? Or remove the oven bottom?

The drawer below the oven will pull out only 1 inch, so the contents are not accessible. Is there some way to gain access to the contents of this drawer--like removing the back of the oven or removing the oven bottom? Or dynamite?

If I pull the range away from the wall, how does the back plate remove? Will I have to disconnect the gas line?

Thanks so much for your detailed explanation. I have a handyman friend and will call him to see if he is comfortable with this procedure.

If you are handy enough you can pull the oven out and access it from the back side, you should then be able to access the drawer, if you want to try something simpler you can feel around the tracks for a release that will allow you to pull the entire tray out. if nothing else will work try to squeeze the tray to the griddle into a reverse axis, you may also be able to putll the tray upward and out to get a little more room to work with. if there is anything else in the tray that u can get out of the 1 inch slot try to get it out

yes you will want to TURN OFF the gas, and disconnect the line

so that you can get to the screws easier, it should be rather simple toremove the screws from the back of the oven, the entire area behind the bottom plate should be empty space except the shelf assembly, you may find it easier to turn the stove onto its front making sure to becareful not to scratch it... if you do take the gas line off PLEASE make sure that you take saftey first and use all precautions to make sure that the connections are tight and not leaking when you put the hose back on! we wouldnt want your house to have a leak! just a small hint, its eaiser to flip the stove once the burners have been removed so that they dont break any toes, also please be sure that ur not smoking when you disconnect the gas line as redidual pressure exists

one more thing you could do is feel around on the front of the drawer to see if there are any screws that are holding the front plate on to the assembly, this perhaps would allow a better look?

I appreciate your inquiry, Tiffany Robinson!

I understand that you need assistance in removing your broiler drawer on your Frigidaire range. Could you provide the model number, please? With the model number I would be able to provide you further assistance. You can locate the serial tag (which lists your model number) on the door frame behind the bottom drawer. Once I have additional information I would be able to assist you better. I look forward to helping you. -Matt

WHERE CAN i FIND MODEL NO ON A GE SPECTRA GAS STOVE

The model number is most commonly located on a nameplate along the oven door opening, or the bottom drawer opening. Some model ranges may have the model number on the back of the operator console. If you need further assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

How can I tell the manufacture date on my electric spectra range?

The date of manufacture is determined by the SERIAL NUMBER on the appliance. The following link explains how this is determined on GE products:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576454-determining_the_age_of_your_ge_appliance

The manufacture date is determined by the first two letters in the serial number. The first letter represents the MONTH of manufacture, while the second letter represents the YEAR.

The serial number and model number should be listed on a nameplate around the oven door opening, or lower drawer opening. Some manufacturers place the nameplate on the back of the control panel.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Where do I find the serial number on my 30" GE range because I need a manual for the oven.

Model and serial numbers are on a tag. If you found the model number, the serial is on the same tag. The tag is usually on the back of the unit or on the side of the door, if the unit has a drawer on the bottom, check there also.

Oven produces soot when running, broiler ok, stove top ok

Al, you need to seat the needle valve on the bake. Remove the bottom drawer, right below the bake burner you will see the nut just below the air shutter adjustment. Turn this nut clockwise a few times, it might seem hard but just do it. Then try the bake again, you should have a nice bluel flame. Tenbears.
