Question about Canon Pixma MP480 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

My printer is jamming the paper every time I try to print something. It pulls the paper on the left side first and then gets stuck. I have tried resetting the printer and do not see anything inside of it.

Make sure that the paper is seated properly in the paper tray. The fact that the printer pulls the left side of the paper first might be an indication that the paper is not seated properly in the tray, or the tray itself dislodged.

Every time I try to print something, the paper doesn't pull from the tray straight. It pulls to the left side and crumples the sheet of paper so that it can't feed through the printer.

You do not state the type of printer so it is difficult to give exact instructions, but I know what your problem is. Something is stuck in the paper path on the right hand side, hence the reason is skews to the left because the left side is able to advance and the right is hitting the obstacle. If your printer has a paper drawer, turn off the power, remove all cords and the cartridge. Pull out the paper drawer and then carefully stand the printer on it's back so that you can see where the paper goes as it comes out of the tray. You will likely find your problem right there. If you can repost with an actual model I can give you a much better idea of how to find a paper jam but these instructions should help you.

Paper is getting jammed hence not printing

Sounds like somthing is caught in the left hand side try looking in it with a flashlight and see if you can see somthing stuck like a twistie tie/sticky label/ staple / sticky tape.... If its in far try using a ruler or a few pieces of paper stacked together to dislodge it.

Paper feed problem from both tray 1 & 2

There is a long set of sensor flags on the bottom of the paper input unit that can get stuck and not move freely. This will cause jams from both trays. Try unplugging the printer, removing the toner cartridges and tray 2. Turn the printer on its back or side. You will see a long, black plastic bar with flags on it that runs the length of the paper input unit. make sure it moves freely.

Printer 2480- my printer is pulling paper only on right side

Try this :

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Paper jam

MOST HP PRINTERS HAVE A DOOR ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE PRINTER THAT CAN BE OPENED TO REMOVE A PAPER JAM. HAVE YOU TRIED USING THIS TO CLEAN THE PAPER JAM. THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING STUCK IN THE PAPER PATH THAT IS CAUSING THE JAMS. CHECK THE WHOLE PAPER PATH FROM THIS REAR ACCESS DOOR. OK?

Will not print / cartridges will not move back and forth

I had this happen to me the other night and I had to restart the printer to get the print job out of the que. You could try that.

While it's restarting, unplug the power cord and the usb cable. That should reset it.

Paper problem

At this point, you my wish to try feeding a slightly thicker piece of paper or light card stock through the printer. If that fails and there is no obvious paper jam then I'm afraid there is nothing else and the printer would need to be serviced or replaced.

Canon MP160 all in one

don't know if it's the same problem i had but its maybe worth a try. My paper went in a little, the wheels were turning but it didn't take the rest of the paper or print.
Yesterday someone replied to my problem, i tried it this morning and its fixed 1st time.
Solution:- Use a piece of thin card, a magazine cover is what i used, make sure its A4 size then try to print something, as the paper starts moving push it through! and hey presto it worked for me, everything printing fine now
