Question about Teac P-988 Turntable
Hi, my kids bought me a Teac P-988 a few years ago. I set it up to use and all of my albums sound slow or warped. I just set it up again and took my albums out of storage - same problem. The albums have always been stored properly and I have over 100. So I am sure that there must be an adjustment I can make to the needle/arm, but I have no manual. Thanks for your help. Philip
Not passing the "wow and flutter" specs, eh?
The most common cause of this is a loose or defective belt. An inferior belt will have varying thicknesses along it's length. When it hits a skinny part, it will slow slightly. When it hits the thick part, it will speed slightly. Overall effect is that the record sounds warped.
needledoctor.com has got some good stuff.
