I, too, need replacement pan for Back to Basics toaster. The coating peels off.

  • marksezine Aug 03, 2008

The coating has pealed off of my pan as well. I have found one place that sells the pan for around $5 but after you add $12.65 for shipping you end up paying $17.65 for a little poaching pan.

If you are willing to pay this you can find one athttp://www.focuselectrics.com/catalog.cf...

Just click on the link that says TEM500 - Egg & Muffin Toaster

I have had the toaster about 16 months and the coating on the poach tray is peeling off. is there a replacement part for sale?

  • FixyaB2B Nov 22, 2008

I requested my replacement pan within the first 12 months as it was under warranty. The second pan soon began peeling as well, but the warranty has expired. There is a replacement pan available on the Back to Basics web site for $5 plus shipping, but I note they are currently out of stock as of 11/08. To save on shipping at the time I placed the order, I ordered 2. At checkout, the cost was nearly $20 or half the price of a new toaster so I cancelled the order. The $5 replacement pan is quite the money maker. Instead, I used the web site to voice my concern and request the pans be available retail along side the toasters saving the consumer shipping. At a $2 or $3 price off the shelf, I might replace the pan. I would request others also voice their concern to the company. I finally peeled what I could of the coating off the second pan. It looks awful, but with a little cooking spray, works just fine. The egg does not seem to stick any more than it did when the pan was coated. My recommendation - save your money, use the exiting pan and voice our collective concern to the company, Perhaps we can all get a better response that way.

My poacher pan is peeling.  I would like to purchase a replacement.

I too have found the same problem after using the poaching tray a number of times. The egg sticks to the bottom of the tray and you must pry your egg off of the bottom. There is hardly any egg left for the sandwich, This is an awful product. There needs to be replacement poacher trays within the retail stores. This product sucks and I will never buy another product from back to basics because of this reason.

Yes, I have the same problem. Have contacted the company and am waiting response. Will post if I get any satisfactory results.

No instruction and poach pan missing.

Hi,
I don't know the model you have, but here is a link to Tefal's website where you can select your model for user's manual download. I'm sure there is customer service contact information to obtain a new tray for your unit.
I hope this helps... I like clearance bargains too. Good luck!

I have a tefal TT550015 toast 'n' Egg and have no instructions on how to use it. Please advise

To use the egg side only, fill the measuring cup with the correct amounts of water. (One side is for boiled eggs, one is for poached eggs.) Pour the water into the basin at the bottom. For boiled- Place 1-4 eggs in the tray with the four holes. Use the sharp thing at the bottom of the measuring cup to pierce the egg shell. Place the lid over top, and hit the 'egg' button. When the light on the button goes out, remove the lid. For poached, grease the pan. Spray/ butter, whatever. DO NOT rely on the non-stick. The thick black tray for boiling eggs goes on first. With the egg in the greased pan (scrambled or whole) place the pan into the unit. There are four plastic pieces in the boiling tray to show you where it goes, the handles aligned. The round tray, with the square holes in it, can be used to warm pre-cooked meat. This is optional, and that tray goes on top. Place the lid over the top, and press 'egg'.

WARNING: this cooks by steam, and any remainder can cause burns. Be careful when removing the lid. Same goes for the product. The boiled eggs should not be touched directly.

To make an egg sandwich, load the egg side and the bread/english muffin/bagel into the toaster. Press the 'egg/toast' button BEFORE starting the toaster. The toaster will start on a timer so that the egg and toast will be done at the same time. When the toast pops up, you are good to go.

Note: there should be no water afterwards, maybe a little oil if you cooked meat. Hard water residue is easily removed with vineger and a paper towel.

Egg poacher tray

Pans, if they are in stock, can be ordered, but they will peel just like the first one. I refuse to pay $5 plus shipping for a faulty product. If the pan is that replaceable, it should be available retail in the stores. I finally just scrubbed what I could of the peeling coating off and (surprise!!!) the pan does not stick any more than it did with the coating. It doesn't look as nice, but save your money - just keep using the pan. I love the toaster, but the company has a great money maker in this faulty item and that dissapoints me that they settle for such mediocrity. At minimum, the company could make the pans more readily available for those who are concerned about the aethetic appearance of the poacher pan or develop a nice looking pan without the apparently useless coating. I use a nonstick spray and the egg comes right out.

NEED EGG POACHER TRAY

$5.00 plus shipping or somewhere around $10. How much is a new toaster? I just scrubbed the remaining coating off my replacement pan that also peeled and it works fine. $10 is too much money for something that will peel just like the original. Too bad they won't make them available in stores that sell the toasters and at least save the consumer shipping.
