Question about Princeton Digital VL1716 17" LCD Monitor

Princeton Digital VL1716 17 turns on for a second and goes out

I have repalaced a lost power supply for this monitor. Now, everytime I turn monitor on, it will give a glimpse of image and go off. If I disconect the power supply input to the monitor and connect it again, It will do the same thing. Any idea of what could be causing such behavior?

Generic Power Adapter: Input 100-240VAC 50-60 Hz 40VA-60VA
Output DC 12V 3A 36W

Thank you

Just want to point out that 12v, 3A is below specs... I believe it needs at least 4A.

one more thing check your dc output on the back of the monitor to make sure its compatible because there are some that have 12v5a output.

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed PRINCETON monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

It more likely to have the same failure as other Princeton monitors here.

The ticking sound is from power supply turning on and off.

Dead. External power supply is good 12V but monitor wont turn on.

my 12 power supply was only 500ma, not the 4a needed. Got the monitor to power up but now the screen goes dark after 2 sec. Looks like a bad backlight issue. I'll replace the inverter board.

thanks

You need to contact with local technician. This is physical problem. It might be your monitor is going to died. It is monitor power supply problem.

Sounds like the monitor took a power surge. Monitor is probably bad but try hooking up the power to the monitor on a different power outlet and see if it turns on, if not then the monitor is bad and would need to be replaced.

Monitor turns on then off quickly

From your description of the issue, the LCD and or hte inverter has failed. If less than a year old, contact Princeton Digital for warranty repair, if outside 1 year, it is likely cheaper to replace than repair
