Question about Hanns.G Corporation HW173D Monitor

1 Answer

Hi, it seems I have a problem with my monitor. Usually it doesn't turn on when I boot (had to keep pressing the power button or the power cable) until it opens up. When it turns off by itself at random, I can only press the other buttons to make the green light blink, then turn off again. If I hold them, the monitor goes on and if released it turns off. The orange color doesn't show, though. The only temporary ways to turn my monitor is to tweak the power cable and retrying to press the power button.

It may have dying power suply due to bad DC filter caps, you will need to inspect that first.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

HI! Fujitsu Siemens S7020WL1 doesn't start, black screen and 3 beeps, 1 long and 2 short. Any hint what the problem might be? Appreciate, Leuben (leuben@eol.ca)

Hi there,

It differs between manufacturer slightly but usually 1 long and 2 short beep codes often means that there is a problem with the video card/graphics card of your computer. This could be bad news for a laptop, as most of them do not have discrete video cards that can be replaced.

My computer's tower turns on but it doesn't display on the monitor, the monitor shows the normal Self test box so the monitor doesn't seem to be the problem. Also when I press the power off...

Make sure that the cable is connected from your computer to the monitor, and if it is wiggle it and push it in all the way. If it has screws, screw them in. If that does not work, check that your monitor is on the correct input (if it has multiple) then see if anything comes on the monitor. If nothing happens you should buy a new cable from the store. If all of those steps do not work your computer or your monitor might have a more serious problem.

I just bought Logitech Clearchat Premium PC, how do I get it to work?

Assemble it: connect the data cable from the monitor to the CPU, Connect the mouse and keyboard to the CPU, connect the power cables for the CPU and for the monitor, press the CPU power button, and the monitor power button. If the computer doesn't work, then it came without an operating system.Get the operating system disk and insert it into the DVD or CD ROM/RW drive. Turn the computer off, and turn it on again. Check the monitor carefully and when it prompts for pressing any key to boot from the cd, do so very fast. The process of operating system installation will start. Follow the procedures and instructions it gives you till the end. If you are not sure of any step, ask or consult any person who can assist.

Screen is blank (white) when turned on.

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya Support
I am Michelle, and i will be assisting you regarding the issue
Turn off the system. Unplug the power cord from the mains. Keep the power button of the cpu (not the monitor) pressed for 5-6 seconds. turn the unit bcak on and check.

Please reseat the monitor cable that connects to the desktop ensuring a secure connection.
Further, if you are able to see the Lenovo Logo on startup try booting to safe mode by tapping F8 key on the lenovo logo itself.
Howevre, in case you are not even able to view the lenovo logo on startup, then it could be a fault with the lcd monitor itself requiring a repair.

Dell 1503FP works, but won't start up again for a few hours

Hello there.
Seems like electronics pack up but try an old one. disconnect all the data cables from your monitor side(HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, USB etc.) or computer side if the ones on display are built-in. Leave only the power cable. Unplug the monitor`s power cable. Press the POWER button on the front of the display and keep it pressed for 45 secs. Plug everything back and give it a try.
Good luck.
