i had the same problem getting also an error message when i would log in about a valid definition file and go to program option page to update the definition file, after trying fixes from others i found one that said to reboot computer and put in safe mode, then open spy sweeper in safe mode, everything was in large print and nothing was turned on, so i rebooted the computer again and this time when the screen came up came up normally and not in safe mode and most of all there was no error message, my spy sweeper is now opened and now it is sweeping like it is suppose to do i don't know who was the person that posted the resolution but thanks it works so everyone try it.
this sounds like spyware in the registery download any spyware removal tool and run this offline then run your antivirus program and see if this gets rid of the problem if this still exists then save all files and emails out and re-install operating system.
I have seen this problem a couple times. The only fix that seems to work is uninstalling Spysweeper and then reinstall it again. If you go to start>Programs>webroot you will see an uninstaller. Run that, reboot the computer, then reinstall again from your install disc.
I did the live chat support. They were very helpful. Gave me a link to redownload the spysweeper product, since mine wouldnt let me do anything. it is your purchased version or u got it from your friend or somewhere else.
if u purchased it then u have to just go to that site and follow the instruction to get some updation.
or this is your unpurchased version than it is good to remove it.
for that go to control panal and then select add/remove hardware or software. in this option u will get all the softwares.
select spy sweeper and select remove option.
that will remove spysweeper.
