start your machine in safe mode and if you have any antivirus installed in it and is updated then scan it , your laptop is infected with virus . so scan it

This is a simple fix in windows vista or windows 7. hit the keys CTRL+ALT+DELETE simultaneously and release. The screen that comes up click on Start Task Manager.
In the task manager window click on Processes Tab. Look for explorer.exe and highlight it and click End Process. Click Yes to stop it. When it is gone from the list, click the Applications tab and click on New Task. In the run box that pops up, type in explorer.exe and click OK or hit Enter. Once your task bar and icons repair look in the system tray area by the clock and the missing icons should now be there.

You need to change the screen resolution.
Windows XP - Click Start/Control Panel/Display When the Display Properties window opens up, click the Settings tab and look down for Resolution. You can slide the bar over to the right to increase it or you can point with your mouse over to an area to the right on the line. The higher you set the resolution, the smaller the icons appear.

Try going to control panel > network connections
right click the wireless connection and select properties
at the bottom of the window is a tick box for displaying the system tray icon, tick it.
You could try a right click on a blank area on your task-bar goto properties then untick "Hide inactive icons", it may help.
If not go here, theres a bunch of ideas that could help you.
