Hi. I have an Hp 2230s laptop. It has a power on password set and I would like to know how to remove it completely? I do know the password that was previously set.
I have already tried going into the bios setup but there seems to be no option to remove or change it under the security tab.
I need your help

BIOS password can be removed using either of these two ways:
1) Take you BIOS cell out for a while and then plug it in again and your BIOS password shall be removed.
2) You can also change your BIOS Jumper Setting. Generally the BIOS jumper resides on pin 1 and 2. You simple take it out and then plant it in on pin 2 and 3. Power on your computer and then power it off. Then change the jumper to default setting that is pin 1 & 2 and then once you shall power on your laptop the BIOS password shall be removed.
The BIOS jumper resides on the motherboard and there is a marking on it stating "BIOS" which shall help you identify the correct jumper.
remove the battery and power supply, open it, and take the cmos battery out. wait 3 minuts. boot it without the cmos, it will say password disabled. shut it down and put it back together. you're done!
To reset the BIOS read the information from this link.
In case of your HP laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.
if is the windows lock administrator password press F5 and go to safe mode and remove password from control panel if is the bios password remove the battery from the motherboard for 5 second then put it back
Please contact your dealer or HP service center / HP customer support to find a place to send the laptop to for unlocking, proof of ownership required.
