Question about Maytag EPIC MFW9700S Front Load Washer

FDL error code

I know you said the fdl error code likely means the door latch assembly needs to be replaced. But I just purchased the Maytag Epic and I only used it 3 times and got this code. Is it likely that it needs replacement or is it possible that I did something wrong?

No I definitely hadn't slammed or overloaded it. I had called Maytag and they said the dl was for door lock and just asked me to unplug it for 15 minutes to see if that would work and it did not. Sears is ordering me a new one since it was so new, I just thought I would check in the meantime to see if it was something I might have caused. Thanks for the quick response.

My washer displays F 02 what does that mean? I put in a load of laundry start the washer only to have it flash this at me a couple minutes after I start. I stop it and restart it but after a couple of minutes it does it again and when it finally finishes after I restart it five or six times the clothes are so wet I have to wring them out before drying them.

"Fdl" is an error code for Whirlpool Duet and Kenmore Elite HE front loader washers. I'm not sure if this error codes also applies to the new Maytag models. I believe Whirlpool has taken over the manufacturing of some Maytag appliances, but I'm not sure. If you've only used the washer a few times, and have not slammed the door, overloaded the washer and have been following the your owner/operators manual recommendations, then you need to get in touch with the retailer and/or manufacturer and request a service call. Your washer is still covered under a limited manufacturer's warranty that covers failed components for the first year. In many cases, attempted repairs or disassembly by the consumer can void the warranty. To answer your question: Sometimes components fail for unexplained reasons. It could have been a bad part that came from assembly defects and/or shipping damage. The only way you could have created this problem is by slamming the door or overloading it to the point where it stresses the door when closing it. I hope this answers some of your concerns.

Thats good that you were able to get some sort of resolution. I recognize the error code, but just wasn't sure if it applied to the new Maytags as well. I guess it does (learn something new everyday). Good luck to you.

Flash FDL code

Fdl error code means a "door lock error code".
This error shows up because the door cannot be locked. The door will try to lock six times before displaying the error code. In order to solve it, your door lock switch needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

My washer stoped and shows a FDL code, what that means

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error "dlf" or FDL means a door latch failure. This means that you'll need to replace the door latch assembly however before doing that you can leave the washer unplugged for 30minutes so that it resets itself. In the meantime when it's unplugged just inspect the door latch wiring to ensure all the connector plugs are intact and not loose or broken. You can access the door latch wiring harness by removing the top panel of the washer. To remove the top panel just remove the three screws that hold the panel in place in the rear of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, and then lift off. Locate the door latch assembly behind the front panel on the right hand side. Trace all the connectors from the door latch to the Central Control Unit (CCU) and make sure they are properly seated at both ends. If after doing this still the issue is not resolved then unfortunately you have to get the door latch replaced. Please rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

What does code FDL mean? kenmore elite wash maching

You are getting and error code F-DL which means the main control board is sensing that the door is not locking. Most likely a problem with the door lock/latch assembly.

Have had F DL code and now F 11 code? I know FDL

"F11" is a Serial Communications error code. This means there is a loss of communications between the Central Control Unit (CCU), Motor Control Unit (MCU), and/or controls. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608695-f11_error_code

If you are receiving BOTH error codes, this means the CCU is not communicating properly with the door latch mechanism. This can be an indication of a broken door latch, failed CCU, or interconnecting wiring between the two. The CCU has a small relay on the board that controls the door latch. These boards are not serviceable, and if defective, must be replaced.

I would recommend you try these procedures first:

1. Remove the top panel of the washer by locating and removing the three screws that hold the panel in place in the rear. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then lift off.

2. The CCU is located directly behind the wash tub. Trace the wires that lead from the door latch mechanism. In the area where the door latch connector plug is connected to the CCU, tap the CCU with a screwdriver. Sometimes the relay on the board sticks and the latch will not lock.

3. If the door latch still fails to lock, UNPLUG the washer and disconnect the door latch connector plug from the CCU and reseat it. Do that same thing on the door latch. Sometimes the connectors become corroded and reseating them can restore connectivity.

4. If you still have problems perform a continuity check of the wires that lead from the door latch to the CCU.

If the error code(s) still persist, most commonly this is a CCU failure. Since the control board cannot communicate with the door latch, both errors will be generated.

Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between these sites, so shop and compare.

If you have any questions about any of these procedures, or need additional assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope this help you.

The "Fdl" code is a Door Latch Lock error. Inspect the door latch for obstructions that may be preventing it from locking and doublecheck the wire harness to ensure all the connectors are intact. If the latch is defective, use the following link for advice on how to replace it:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587965-door_latch_replacement_fdl_error

Another method of replacing the latch is to remove the top panel and work form the top down behind the front panel. Due to limited space, this may not be desireable to some.

Replacement latches can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, appliancepartspros.com, or repairclinic.com. Use your model number for your search criteria. These sites have great service and offer competitive pricing. Check out all three for the best savings.

I hope this information helps you. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Whirlppool front loading washer won't start, code FdL, door can be opened

"Fdl" is a door latch FAILURE error code. What the error is telling you is that something is malfunctioning with the electronic door latch and/or interconnecting wire or Central Control Unit. It is recommended that you check the wiring harness connected to the door latch or, replace the door latch. The following link explains how:

Error Codes F dl and F 11

Okay...it sounds like you have a bad door latch assembly. It makes contact, washer begins the wash cycle, and then after some vibration becomes unlatched and generates the "Fdl" code or "F11". "Fdl" is a door latch error, "F11" is a serial communications error to the CCU. A door latch problem can generate BOTH codes, because it has a communication link to the CCU. I would recommend replacing the door latch. You can find the part at either repairclinic.com or searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your COMPLETE model number in the Search menu and you will find a listing of all the parts. For instructions on how to replace the door latch, go to my profile and look under "Tips and Tricks". I have a write-up listed there on how to replace a door latch on a front loader. If you cannot find the information you are looking for, or have any further questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
