Are you asking Office alternative to MS Office 2007 on an XP OS? If so, I would suggest Open Office.

If you are asking about the OS itself, I would suggest movie up to Windows 7 Pro.

Please Clarify your Problem, Im assuming from the open office statement that you are having issues opening office files like word in open office, If this so re save the file in office as DOC instead of DOCX Only office opens docx files

What you had until now was a trial install. If you still want it you need to buy it and Microsoft will send you a key.
If you don't want to buy it then uninstall MS Office and replace it with the free Open Office.

If your company was using MS Office 2003 then you're using MS Office 2007. Make sure you're saving the file in a compatible format. For example, if you've create a report on excel file using MS Excel 2007 then you should save the file in .xls (compatible format) instead of .xlsx (2007 format. In that case you can open your file on both versions. Also when you're saving other office files make sure it's in compatible format.

If you bought Office you should have a license there is nobody legal out there handing out free license keys so you are wasting your time asking for one except if it is a trial key

If the price of the software was included in your purchase price of the laptop, then you should have the key.
If it's a trial version, you can keep using it for maybe 90 days and then you'll have to buy it to keep using it.

Im supposing you are trying to get an upgrade or updated version of MS Office, and its asking you for your product key from your previous version.
