Original XBOX CD tray ejects multiple times before staying put

When inserting a CD or DVD, the tray does not stay in, but instead keeps popping out multiple times. I have to keep pushing it back in until it finally stays put and loads. Very annoying. Anyone seen this issue & have a solution?

Thanks in advance.

Try this:

http://secure.llamma.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=64_26&products_id=51

mines doin the same thing
i'm about to order this once i get $15 from my parents ;)

the only thing is you will have to open the xbox(which voids warranty but I doubt u have a warranty lasting this long)and then have to carefully take a whole bunch of stuff out, hard drive,dvd-drive,motherboard,then finally the front plate to replace the eject and power buttons which might be your problem if it opens by itself sometimes too like mine does

good luck :)

Tip

CD Insert Without pushing a button!

This will not work with a Laptop drive unless it is the slot loading type.
We already have 'Eject' when we right click the CD/DVD drive from (My Computer), which ejects the drive tray. But to insert the tray inside,we have to manually push the insert button on CD/DVD drive.
Another way most PC owners insert that CD tray is by pushing the tray itself. I'm sure nobody mentioned this when you got that PC, but that push to insert feature (Also called the bump feed) is not really safe to use over time. If you happen to say, push too hard because you are in a hurry, the gear which pulls your CD tray in can skip a tooth, making that CD or DVD open and close all by itself, or even worse, making it stay locked tight forever.

5b3ffe0.jpg

Here is a trick that allows you to insert the drive tray without actually touching that button. Simply by putting the 'Insert' sub-context(as shown in above figure) menu on the CD/DVD drives Context menu. For this to happen, we need to use a dll file from our windowssystem32 folder.

First of all, download this file CDEject.zip and extract it. There will be two files CDeject.dll and CDeject.reg. Now follow the step by step procedures.

1. CDeject.dll -> copy this file to X:windowssystem32 folder (here X is your corresponding drive letter, usually it's drive C:)

2. CDeject.reg -> execute it. It shows a warning message, accept that and click OK.

Now try right clicking your CD or DVD drive and click eject, then right click again and choose insert.

Amazingly cool isn't it?

So far I haven't found a way to make the CD hop in the tray all by itself, but I am still hopeful.

And you thought you couldn't program!

Have fun with that!

I inserted a DVD wrong side into NEC TV NLT-!9HDDDV3. How do I remove it?

There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

My xbox 360 tray wont stay close how do i fix it

Do you mean the CD tray won't stay closed? If so check the simple things first. The button that you push to open and close the tray is actually a lever that pushes a much smaller button below it. Make sure that your eject button is not stuck down for some reason. Check your cd tray and the bay to make sure nothing got inside that is preventing the cd tray from closing all the way. I believe if something gets in the way the tray will automatically re-open. You can also take some compressed air and blow out the cd tray to remove any debris that may be blocking the tray from closing.
If none of the above simple steps work I believe it boils down to 2 things. 1. An object inside the case or tray that is preventing it from closing all the way or... 2. The eject button is stuck down.
If your comfortable with it you can take apart your xbox case and remove your CD/DVD player and ensure the button works properly. You can do a search on this site or youtube for instructions on how to take the case apart if needed. Once the case is apart the CD/DVD player is easily removed. You will then notice that the switch you press on the outside of the Xbox to open and close the CD/DVD tray is actually a lever that presses a much smaller switch directly on the front of the CD/DVD unit. You can then test your eject switch directly by pressing the button directly with a ball point pen or a pin. If the bay does not open and close properly at this point it may be necessary to replace the CD/DVD player and I do not know if it can be replaced or not. Hope this helps.

The door will not open and eject the cd. the amber light stays on all the time

Hi,
Try going to "my computer" and right click on the icon that shows your cd drive. Then select eject to see if the cd will eject.

If it does not, then shut down your computer. Look for a small pin hole below your cd tray. Unbend a paper clip and insert it into the hole and press. The cd tray should pop open so you can remove that cd.

If the problem continues then it's time for a new cd drive.

Original Xbox disc tray not opening properly

Hello,

I found this posted on cheapassgamer.com

"
Greetings, Ladies and Gentlemen.
Since I was able to solve my Xbox's tray problem completely (for now) due to this site, I felt it necessary to contribute to the forum, in order to (hopefully) help the next person with the same problem.

First, let me note that my Xbox has a Samsung drive. This method may only work if you have a Samsung or Hitachi drive, as they have the lever action emergency release.

Issue:
A) Xbox DVD tray will not eject when eject button is pressed, instead making a clunk / thump noise, as if being blocked from ejecting due to media inserted incorrectly – irregardless if media is present in the tray.
B) Tray will sometimes eject if button is pressed multiple times.
C) Tray will only eject if Xbox is thumped upon directly above the tray.

Solution:
A) First, go to http://www.xbox-mod.co.uk/index.php?...mergency-eject . Then, scrounge up a paper clip and proceed to manually eject your DVD tray.

B) Next, remove the Xbox logo front panel from the DVD tray. This is fairly easy to do, but you must be gentle, or you might break the tray or the front panel. The way to remove it is to take a pair of needle nose pliers and use them to gently pull the bottom clips away from the tray's underbelly before pushing the front panel up. You can also unclip one side, then the other if you are having difficulty.

C) Use the eject button to close the tray. Now open it again. If it still refuses to open (as did mine), use the paperclip and manually eject the tray.

D) Now, loop your finger through the open DVD laser slot in the tray, and gently pull the tray towards you – it will come out a wee bit more, and then stop. Do not force the tray to extend any farther than that.

E) WHILE THE DRIVE IS STILL OPEN, use your paperclip on the manual eject lever. It may take a moment to trigger it, as it is currently depressed, but if your Xbox and DVD Rom are like mine, it will actually draw the tray back in.

F) Poke the Eject button. It should pop open without any argument at this point. Try it a few times, just to be sure, if you'd like. Then, slide the front panel back onto the tray, and you should be good to go… until the next time the P.O.S. decides to slip a gear.

What's that? Slip a gear? Yep. As far as I can tell, that's exactly what is causing the trouble with the drives. Pushing them closed with your finger will force the motor to engage, yes? Well, eventually it seems the cheap DVD Rom's in the Xbox get fouled up, the motor kicks in a bit too late, closes the tray too far, and slips a gear. Then it will clunk / thump at you impotently until you fix it. What we have just done seems to reset the engagement point on the motor, and allows the eject button to work properly again. An easy solution to this problem is to always use the eject button to load and eject media, but you can't always ensure your guests are going to adhere to that policy (Or that the Xbox won't pull it shut too hard just to spite you, the foul tempered little…).

For Thompson and Phillips Drives, that use a gear to manually eject the tray, I would assume that pulling the tray forward, then advancing the gear manually until it refuses to do so, and then pushing the eject button might work. If anyone tries this and succeeds, reply to this message and let us know.

Thanks again for leading me to my solution (even if it may only be temporary), and I hope my suggestions have led you to yours."

Hope this helped please rate.

Door does not stay closed

The number one quick fix for the DVD drive is to re-align the tray. This is common with CD players, CD changers as well. Many times just from normal use a gear will skip or something will jump track, unless all the pieces are in the right place at the time it powers up it will not work. So by removing the tray, aligning the internal parts to their starting position and re-inserting the tray you can often bring a drive back from the dead
