What kind of flash drive and computer are u working with? Let me know and I may be able to give u a more accurate answer. Try inserting another device in that USB port and check to see if ur computer is recognizing it in your device manager. Click on Start Tab then Go To Settings , Control Panel Then Click on System Icon , Then Click on the Hardware Tab and Click on Device Manager, scroll down to see if there are any yellow question marks or flags? Leave that Device manager window open and try to re insert your flash drive again and see what response u get?

Hi, can i install a 720 GB internal hard disk for my acer veriton? my present configuration are windows 7 pro,32 bit 160 GB HDD. thanks in advance.

I found a pdf manual here and it shows that this computer does not have SATA ports, but does have 2 IDE ports, so if it's an IDE hard drive you want to install then you should be able to. However, your 2nd IDE port is likely used by a cd/dvd rom drive, so unless you are replacing the hard drive rather than adding one, you would need to remove the disc drive. There are very affordable external usb disc drives available.

I just bought a PNY 4 GB High speed usb 2.0 drive I would like to put my pictures on it how do I do it? from my computer.

Insert the USB drive into any USB port of your computer. When you do, you should see a window pop up that asks what you would like to do now. Click the option to browse the files. You should now have a window open for your USB drive. Next, open up my computer and find your pictures on your hard drive. Once you have found them, you can click and drag the pictures from the hard drive window to the USB drive window. Do this as necessary for any or all the pictures.

Hi, I have a computer into which I want to boot without the Hard Drive using a Pen Drive. I tried PortableApps application installed in my 8 GB Flash Drive and unable to boot with it. The Operating System...

Your pen drive needs a boot sector and an operating system.

1.) Format the Pen Drive using HP format tool found HERE. It's a 2 MB download. There is also a link to Windows98 system files. You need those if you want to boot your computer in MS DOS from your pen drive. The above method will not let you read/write to NTFS drives.

2.) If you want to boot a semi-functional windows from your pendrive you need "BART's PE Builder" found HERE, and a windows instalation CD (the list of supported Windows versions is found on the same site). "Barts pebuilder" is designed to create bootable live windows CD-s for system administrators and "geeks", there is a small .BAT file in it that installs it on your pen drive. Read a few readme files and follow the instructions on the web site.

3.) If you want to boot Linux from your pen drive visit this web site http://www.pendrivelinux.com/

If you have access to another computer with internet (friend, relative, neighbor, etc...), get a USB flash drive or thumb drive (2 or 4 GB can be found for around $10 - $15), then follow these steps:

1. locate your express service tag code, usually found on a sticker somewhere on the computer's case, and write it down.
2. go to Dell's support website: http://support.dell.com
3. Click "Drivers and Downloads"
4. Choose "By Service Tag"
5. Enter your Express Service Tag and click GO
6. Scroll down to "Network"
7. Download the "Recommended" driver and save it to the USB flash drive.

Take the USB flash drive back to your computer, open it in Windows Explorer, then double click the downloaded file and follow the installation directions from there.

You could also do the same with a CD-R if you don't have a thumb drive, but it's a bit more involved.

Partitioning a USB flash drive

Yes, it is possible to partition a flash drive, and it is safe. To do this, you can use windows disk manager or other softwares such as partition manager from Paragon.
Just make sure that you format it in FAT32 so it is readable.
