If the the unit powers on at all then assume its defective. If its still within the stores return policy return it. If not you will have to go through the manufacturer for the warranty if its still unexpired.

Can i use karaoke mic in harman avr 245 ?

No. The 245 doesn't have a microphone input. Besides, the speakers for a home surround sound system are a bit too delicate for the distortion levels generated by karaoke.

Here's a $300 speaker (yes, $300 for a single speaker) wrecked from teens doing karaoke. They then bust it more messing around trying to push the tweeter cone together so the crack wouldn't be so noticeable

If you still want to go ahead with the idea then you'll need some other bits of gear. For simplicity sake I'd recommend a karaoke CD+G player. It will have mic inputs, vocal echo, and take care of putting the works up on screen.

The alternative is a mixer with effects (echo, reverb) - Cheap is Behringer Xenyx 1202FX

and a source device for music and graphics. This could be your PC, but you'll then need to go trawling for karaoke files and you'll need some software to play them and do the words. Sax & Dotty is pretty good software.

The PC sound needs to be connected to the mixer in a stereo channel. The mic goes in mono on a mic channel. The output of the mixer goes to the AVR on an AUX input.

I use a laptop,an external hardrive, and a mixer amp what is the best way to record some one singing on my karaoke to be able to burn it to disc for them to keep?Do you have any karaoke experts.....

I would suggest you to use a headset (without mic) and play the karaoke for them so that they can listen the music through the headphone while they sing. Connect the mic on the mic plug on your computer and record the songs they are singing with rhythm of the karaoke using an audio editor like Audacity or Adobe Audition and similar softwares. Suppose if you play the karaoke on your speaker, then the music will be heard from the mic and it'll be mixed up with the songs he/she is singing. For best result, Record the sound/songs and save it as different file and mixdown the karaoke file with it later. Otherwise, you'll not be able to get good songs. Please let me know if you need further help.
Good luck.

I have a fleco karaoke machine the problem is that when you put a cd in the machine the word error appears what do i do please help

Hello. These karaoke machines can be a pain in the neck in that not all karaoke CD's work in every machine. Check in your manual to see which CD's are recommended. I had the same problem until I went to the home page for my karaoke machine and found the exact CD's that would play. Good luck with it. J.

You don't say what input on the Sony is connected to which output on the Karaoke machine (what model?).

Assuming you want the Sony to do the playback from your karaoke machine...

Take the K's audio output on an RCA cable pair to any of the Sony's available analog inputs, for example one of the connectors labeled: CD, TV or SAT. My guess is SAT is unused in 90% of homes.

Select the appropriate source on the Receiver and rock on. You could even play with some of the DSP surround simulation modes to hear the K through all of your speakers.

CDG or DVD skips

I came here hoping to find a solution to the exact same problem. I also used the CD cleaning discs. Had the same result. Works for a while, then it just does the same thing again. Problem is, I have a party tomorrow. We are planning on using the Singing Machine STVG 718. (That's the name of my machine)

Tape loop

You may need to purchase a cheap external mixer with both mic and line inputs, and use that to mix the mic with the DVD audio. In most receivers, you can only select one input at a time. The output of the mixer can then be plugged into any spare receiver input, such as AUX, CD, DVD, etc. When not using Karaoke, you can simply turn the mic input down to prevent it from interfering with the DVD signal, but will still need to have the mixer on to hear DVD's.
