Question about Ruud Air Conditioners
My elderly parents recently called someone to their house to look at their central air units (one indoors and one outdoors) manufactured by Ruud.
The A/C service person told them that their unit was not fixable (it was only dripping, and my mom was worried about an ugly stain on the ceiling).
He said that the type of freon the unit used is no longer sold, and the entire unit would have to be replaced.
Is this correct?
Although its only symptom was a drip, the unit mysteriously stopped working after the technician left.
Was the service guy right? Or were my parents taken advantage of?
Thank you for your time.
It's important to not jump to conclusions often a simple failure of communication is to blame, However R-22 -the most common residential refrigerant and the one being phased out is still available. The situation sounds suspicious, check with the Better Business Bureau in your area to see if complaints have been filed. But most importantly theres lots of hard working reliable and trustworthy Technicians out there that want and deserve your business seek them out and keep them busy. GL.
