Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook

1 Answer

Power i recently noticed my computer was not saying it was charging when the adapter was plugged in. I thought the adapter was bad, so i got a new one, and it is still not charging. I can hold the power adapter a certain way sometimes and it says it is charging, but then it quits. Any suggestions?

Your dell is known for the dc jack soldered on the circuit bord to break away.
I have repaired 1 a few weeks ago. I opened it up and took the board out resoldered and superglued the jack to the board.
My customer was very happy.

Hp pavilion dv6 2117ax will not power up

Since you already got a new charger, then the problem could be the power jack of the laptop and/or the connections inside the laptop.

Try to plug the power adapter slowly and try to wiggle it. It you feel that the power jack is wiggling, then the problem is a loose power jack that is why it won't charge. And you need to have a tech tighten that up for you.

Hello:
Maybe your battery is ruined. Batterries tend to lose their capacity after a year or two. It depends on its use and care. If your battery is too old, for sure, you need to replace it.

I hope this helps. Thanks.

I bought a DELL INSPIRON 1525 in august 2008. it worked fine until recently. now the issue is, the battery is not charging. when i plug in, it says "plugged in, charging"...but my battery is stuck at 32%...

First of all, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.
If the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again.
If this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your laptop.
If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether.

Acer Aspire 5520 Power Problems! :(

1. Actually the problem is not with the charger / adapter!

2. The plug-in port / jack of the laptop has become loose.

3. Don't try to work out the charging by adjusting the adapter plug with different angles. It will just damage the plug-in port (the wire inside the port will become loose and unaligned)!

4. Contact the Acer authorised service center for repair / replacement of that plug-in port / jack in the laptop! It'll just cost some bucks!

please rate this advice if it helps....tc! :)

Laptop Battery won't charge

The chances of getting two bad batteries is slim, so we'll have to assume it's not the battery. I suggest you flash your bios if that has not been done recently.

You can download and install the newest from support.dell.com

Laptop won't charge

the sucky thing with laptops is the electric plugs directly into the motherboard. then the electricity goes from the motherboard to the battery, so i'd have to say the motherboard is bad you could get a new one, but it costs alot of $. So I suggest bring it to your local computer shop and see what they can do.

Trouble booting up laptop

Goto a radioshack and ask if they can give you a replacement AC adapter for the computer. Bring the computer with you so that they can match it up. If the computer charges and works with the new adapter, it was the plug/adapter that you were using. If it still does not turn on, it may be a problem with the socket for the power adapter and you will need to have a certified repair technician take a look at it
