Why the battery of my unit is not charging? and When do i know the rechargeable battery is to be replaced?Coy

You need to replace the battery when it no longer charges or when the battery won't hold a charge and dies quickly. the charging symbol will light, as the charger is working, but in your case, the battery is not accepting or holding the charge.

Is this a hand-held DVD player?

Why red charge light keeps blinking?

Is your battery a LiPo (Lithium?) If so ... These special batteries are charged by a computer circuit that holds the charge amperage constant and adjust upward the charging voltage until the required battery voltage is reached. At this time the charger hold a constant voltage and decreases the amperage as the battery capacity is "topped off". the charger circuit charges the entire battery at once but monitors each cell (cells are about 3.7 volts each) and controls the charge so that all the cells are ballanced.

When one of the cells that makes up the battery starts to go bad, the ballance circuitry prevents over charging the others, so one weak cell hold all the cells back from full charge and better charger circuits will signal you with an led or such that the battery is' going' bad.

Battery will not hold a charge

The battery is defective. I could not find a replacement battery online. The player is less expensive than the cost to repair unless it is covered under warranty. IN future, donot allow the battery to fully discharge. It will shorten its life or end it completely!

This model of DVD Player is made primarily for Walmart Stores so am Assuming you bought it there. Battery Swelling is an acid combustion issue, meaning they over-expired or over charged. Don't leave these charged for too long. Other than recommending to get the replacement that is mentioned in the original Users Manual that came with it, it's quite difficult to get a replacement. I have added a site below for walmart purchases that may be compatible with your unit.

Unfortunately, without getting an exact genuine replacement, there is a down side to the Universal Battery. They claim to hold up to 11 hrs, but the average usage is about 5 hrs constant use. So you figure instead of 4 full length movies maybe 5, you might get about 2-3 movies if you're lucky. Trial and error and user results vary obviously.

And you may wish to check with Walmart. I believe this unit had a recall on it due to faulty wiring and or battery issues that cause a fire hazard. Silver Durabrand DVD Players as well as Purple and Pink ones were recalled. I would take it back if that is where you bought it and ask them about the recall. Or check with to see any updated info.

Wish you luck.

How do battery get charge

Chances are you need a new battery if its not charging if after getting a new battery and it still does not charge you might have a bad charging element inside. Try taking out the battery clean the tabs with some rubbing alchol and put it back in dry and see if that helps.

Now if it does not dont shoot the messanger you might have yourself a bad chrging element.

The quick fix for this you can get a portable battery and it goes into your apaptor plug they cost around $30 bucks and hold more charge then your current battery and this will put a tape fix on your battery issue.

If you unit is under warranty by all means express your rights to that and get it fixed.

Thanks and I do hope this was Very Helpful advice to you weh nyou leave your feedback!

Battery wont charge

Well actually it charges while plugged in even when running. but yes not draining it all the way and then charging it fully will decrease the batteries life. So they will not last as long if you take care and charge them properly. Durabrand is actually a walmart brand, made only for walmart. These dvd players are actually outsourced through Lennox. Here is the warranty info you can still have it repaired if it is out of warranty as stated:
Supplier Warranty: We warrant this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use for a period of 1 year after purchase, and we will repair it free of charge or replace it at no charge, should it become defective under this warranty, providing you submit proof of purchase (sales slip) with the set. During the initial 1 year period after original purchase, we will service the set that is returned to LENOXX ELECTRONICS CORP., prepaid, at no charge. After the initial 1 year period expires, we will exchange, at no charge, any part that is defective, but will charge for the cost of labor, return postage paid by Lenoxx. This warranty does not apply to any product which has been subject to misuse, neglect or accident. This warranty does not cover a broken cord or cabinet. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL LENOXX ELECTRONICS CORP. BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. The following charges apply to repairs beyond the warranty period: $ 30.00. Be sure to pack carefully and return postage paid insured together with your money order (personal checks will not be accepted) and sales receipt to: LENOXX ELECTRONICS CORP., 35 Brunswick Avenue, Edison, N.J. 08817, usa
You could try and contact them for a new battery but their are alot of rip off reports because of no way to contact them. Thats what you run into with these "low price" brands. Unfortunately you save money right away and it will cost you in the long run.
Thank you,

There are only a few possible reasons...

  1. The battery is not being charged properly
  2. The battery needs to be cycled
  3. The batter is defective
Option 1 - If available try another charger
Option 2 - Run the device until the battery totally dead\depleated of power. Then charge the battery for the maximum charge time suggested by the manufacturer. If you do not have the manual and cannot find their website then attempt to charge the unit for apptox 24 hours. If this does not work then it is either option 1 or 2.
Option 3 - If available try another battery in the device and see if it is being charged and if it is holding the charge. If Yes, then the battery need to be replaced.

My dvd player will not hold a charge so I thought it might need a new battery. Where can I get one?

The only store I found that sold this at some point was Walmart. I went to the site where I found warranty information for this manufactuer and model # (see below for warranty details). Now here's the problem:
The website and phone number for the manufacturer no longer exist. I tried the website first and it linked me to some other website. I tried to call the number provided and an operator came on claiming something about an international directory ... At this point, I'm not sure what Walmart could do, if that is indeed where the system was purchased from. You may be out of luck on this one. Let me know what you find out
