Replacement PCB Anyone know where i can get a replacement PCB for a seagate st38011a. Specs as follows: Config dza-10 Rev2 Firmware 3.06 I ordered one off ebay but it was a "rev0" and didn't work. Now i cant find ANY. Thanks

i have the same issue with my hdd. same drive only the 160gb one. you may be able to buy a replacement PCB board. check out:

hddzone.com

Contact your local computer store, a computer technician/data recovery technician may have just that circuit for you to use and transfer your data onto a new hard drive.

You may also try to contact Seagate in this regard, they offer 3 year warranty on all Barracuda hard drives.

Here are several back up sofwares wich could help . I still think Acronis is the best .
If you are under Windows 7 , you don't need third party programs anymore . Just go to Start , type " back up entire system " and follow instructions .

IF YOU CHANGE A PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD WITH A NON MATCHING PCB... SUCH AS DIFFERENT FIRMWARE, LAYOUT, OR MICRO CONTROLLER NUMBERS, YOU WILL RUN A HIGH RISK OF FAILURE AND FURTHER DAMAGE!


So very carefully note down:
Firmware and MDL

Example of firmware details recorded:
Western Digital MDL: WD2000BB-16DWA0
MDL: WD2000BB This indicates the Model Number of the Drive and Memory Cache BB Meaning 2MB there are also JB for 8MB and so on... this needs to be the same if you are ordering parts.
Firmware: 16DWA0 This is reference to the hard drives firmware number, this can be used for a PCB Swap but if unsuccessful you will need to contact a professional data recovery with the means of firmware recording and or firmware replacement

Hi - Your best bet is eBay or other online auction. I found 7 for sale including a seller in Canada with just the PCB for sale.
