Question about Acer Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Woke up this morning to find water was spilt on the desk my laptop was sitting on. The laptop was off but the A/C adapter was still plugged in as was the battery. I'm not sure if the keyboard was exposed to the water but the underside of the laptop was soaked. When I opened the battery compartment there was indications that water had seeped into it. I have detached the laptop from the power supply and taken out the battery. I have dried the parts that were wet including the battery. I have left it for a day and then tried to put the battery back in and connect the A/C adapter. When I try switching it back on nothing happens. No power sems to be getting to the laptop via the battery or the adapter. What could have happened and is the fixable?

WATER WILL USUALLY DRY OUT WITHIN ONE TO TWO DAYS AND USUALLY THINGS WILL WORK, LIFT UP COMPUTER AND SHAKE TO SEE IF WATER COMES OUT, LEAVE SET UP ON SIDE TO SEE IF WATER DRAINS DOWN AND OUT. MAY HAVE SHORTED OUT THE POWER SUPPLY. ALSO MAKE SURE CHARGER UNIT IS WORKING.. GOOD LUCK

Hi there I have got a toshiba satellite c50d-b-120 laptop and the other day I turned it off then in the morning I woke up and tried to turn it on but won't start need help asap

Verify the power adapter is working with multimeter. Should display 19.5v

Drain capacitors - Remove power plug and battery from laptop. Hold power button down for 30 seconds. Put battery back in and plug in. Try to turn it on.

If it turns on but you are getting no display, plug in an external monitor to see if it's a display issue

Spilt water on keyboard. won't start . need help. only small amount of water. are there ways to get it repaired. only 1 month old

it has to be soldered. find a pc solder shop, this part attaches to where the ac adapter plugs in, it is blown, it services battery and wall power to the system on and system from these two sources. sometimes, there is a pices that bolts out and has a wire plug. it's not usually very expensive or difficult to fix. :)

Dell Inspiron 700m won't start

Hi,
It sounds like there is an issue with the system memory.

Remove both the power adapter and the battery. Turn the laptop over and locate the RAM (memory) cover and remove the holding screw.
Take out the system memory and clean the brass contacts, also clean the slots that the memory sits in.
Re-seat the memory making sure it clips into place nice and tight and replace the RAM cover.

Return power to the laptop and turn it on to see if that has helped.

If it still won't boot up then you may need to purchase new memory for the laptop.

Good luck.

Have you unplugged the power cord to the LCD? Let it sit for a minute, then try it. ALWAYS buy a UPS and plug any computer devices into it. Doesn't have to be big, a $50 unit will protect it from dangerous voltage surges.

Screen

There are a couple of possibilities.

1. A cable has come loose inside the computer.

2. A cable has become defective.

3. The LCD is defective.

If you wiggle the LCD back and forth and you can get the picture to work again intermittently then answers 1 & 2 above would be more likely.
