The camera should have come with a USB lead. If not these are obtainable from the photo shop. Wjen you turn the camcorder on it will automatically be read by the computer and ask you what you would like to do???

Can I transfer video tapes onto CD's

A lot depends on what type of video tape you use and where do you want to play the DVDs (CDs are for audio recording only). If tape is compact VHS then you can buy a simple DVD Recorder VHS VCR combo player and transfer across easily provided you have the compact VHS cassette module.
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/reservoir/tv-dvd-players/lg-v271-vcr-dvd-player-combo-recorder-6-head-hi-fi-stereo/1073556241

For other type of video camera tapes you will have to try other methods like connect camera with tape to a DVD recorder and directly burn the DVDs. You can buy attachments and software for PC but I have found these very cumbersome to work with.

How to connect Hitachi camcoder with laptop

Connecting to PC via PC Connection Cable
Use the provided PC connection cable to connect the DVD video camera/recorder to PC as shown in the last.

Note:
• No data can be written to the HDD, disc or SD memory card in this DVD video camera/recorder when it is connected to PC.
• The PC connection cable does not supply power to the DVD video camera/recorder: Use the AC adapter/charger
to power the DVD video camera/recorder.
• Before connecting the DVD video camera/recorder to PC, disconnect any cables or camera accessories (external
video flash, external microphone, etc.) other than the PC connection cable and AC adapter/charger.
• When connecting the DVD video camera/recorder to PC, the ACCESS/PC indicator will light green. While HDD or
a disc is being accessed, the indicator will light or blink orange. While an SD memory card is being accessed, the
CARD ACCESS indicator will light or blink red.

If you connect the DVD video camera/recorder to PC via PC connection cable, the PC will automatically recognise the DVD video camera/recorder. After recognition is finished, it may be
prompted to restart the PC: In this case, follow the instruction and restart the PC.

How can i transfer a trv36 hi8 tape to a dvd

Hey;

Your camera uses the rca cable to connect too your TV right,
then get a DVD recorder that has an RCA input and select the input channel. Hit record on the DVD recorder then Play on the Camera.

It will record realtime you may aswell enjoy your home video as you record it.

I would STRONGLY advise not to record through a PC using USB... You will drop alot of frames this was as these USB's dont process video fast enough.

How do I copy a video from tape to SD card on my Canon MVX25i? As you cannot directly download to PC from the tape I tried recording the video to a DVD on my DVD recorder - although that worked the PC nor...

Hello,

as far as I know, you can only save photos on the SD card.
You can capture the video from the tape to your PC via Firewire interface, connect the Firewire cable to the DV connector on your camera and your computer's firewire port and capture it with a program called WinDV.
About the DVD recorder, often it it the case with them that you have to 'finalize' the DVD before it can be read on a PC/Mac

I have an old Samsung VP-A30 video camera with loads of 8mm tapes, and would like to transfer to either TV/Video/PC. Unfortunately, there seems to be just one AV output source, which feels rather fragile,...

Hello Ron,
Well that is like you say an old camera, mind you 8mm is still far the best and safest way to store your valued films as it has kept the data on those tapes longer than any DVD ever did, remember unlike we thought 10 years ago a DVD only has around 8 to 10 years life span, we are finding CD & DVD productions that are over 8 years old just wont play any longer.
Kodak put a report on the net 7 years ago that they found even some quite costly DVD recorded media had gone blank and refused to play after a very short time in storage.
I think you ought to look around Ebay, find a nice HI8 digital camera, put your loved tapes in that, plug the new Firewire cable into the camera, and your PC and download your treasured items to another media like DVD.
Keep your 8mm tapes in a draw safe though because they will out-live all DVD recordings I can honestly say that.

Need to transfer order VCR-C tapes to DVD How

You will need to borrow or buy a DVD-Recorder, either way it's best to follow the manuals instructions on how to connect your camcorder (external device) to the DVD Recorder for Recording to DVD. Most camcorders come with a set of AV (audio/video) Cables for this purpose. On your camcorder you will find a little rubber door that houses the terminals to connect your cables to. Depending on how old your camcorder is you will find a Yellow (video) and a White (audio) and on the newer ones that have stereo capabilities...you will have a Red (audio), all these connections are video and audio Out-Inputs and should be connected to the Video and Audio "In" terminals on the back of the DVD Recorder. Now make sure your battery is fully charged (It's best here to use an AC Adapter for your power supply instead of your battery, which also usually comes with your camcorder if bought new.) and that your VCR-C tape is loaded and completely re-wound. Now if you want to watch this on your TV while you are recording to DVD...you'll need another set of AV Cables that come with a new DVD-Recorder, and hook these cables on the Out-terminals on the back of the DVD- Recorder and the other end of the cables to your TV's Video/Audio-IN terminals on the back of the set. Finally...Set your camcorder switch for Playback, turn on the DVD Recorder, And turn on your TV. Now you can go ahead and record all your VCR-C tapes to DVD! Any other questions? Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.

Convert NTSC VHS video tapes to DVD PAL

If you do not have an adaptor to play the tapes to a standard VHS viseo player, you can use the camera as the player by connecting the AV out to a DVD recorder. There are hundreds of models in the market, and do not worry if it is NTSC or PAL because 99% of DVD recorder accepts both.

How to Record From a TV Using PV-GS13?

connect a lead via your tv video out audio out jacks. Select tha appropriate channel (You may have to go through the av channel on you tv and tune in the channel you want to record) or, video or dvd player audio out video out jacks. connect other end to your camcorder. Select on the camcorder menu video in audio in. Turn on tv. If connected to video or dvd player, press play. Press record on your camera. When finished recording press stop. Presuming the camcorder is tape, you can buy a tape adaptor to play or record your mini tapes in a standard video recorder, then take them out of the adaptor and play them back on your camcorder. You can also do all this via a computer. Also if the camcorder is disk or hard drive it can be used the same way as a regular dvd recorder to record tv programmes once connected to you t.v.
