Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Umm this is most likely due to either a driver not being installed, or becoming corrupt, or could even be a hardware fault. I would go with the driver not behaving itself. Gateway laptops are actually made by acer and have been for a few years now. I suggest looking for and downloading your driver software and installing. Restart the laptop using a wired connection.

Cant get my dell inspiron 1100 to recognize my modem after reinstalling installing xp system

Oh my goodness, who uses a modem? Please don't tell me you get on the internet using a phone line and modem.

Ohh Internet Modem as his first sentence says. I'm thinking that means he has a high speed modem from a internet service provider. Ok, I would suggest that you remove the power cord, remove the battery, turn the laptop over and find the cover that houses the wireless modem and remove the antennas (black and white cables) from the wireless card, then remove the wireless card from the slot. Now press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then put everything back together and reboot.

Cannot go to the internet

first you must have an ISP Internet Service provider which will provide you with a modem and leads you can choose either a dial up,usb,or an ethernet connection to connect to the net or if you have a laptop you can choose a wireless usb modem which can work on a desktop aswell once you recieve the modem just insert the disk provided and follow the prompts

if you already have set up the internet
the driver should be on the motherboard disc or the one supplied by your ISP internet service provider
check the password make sure its exactly how you provided to your ISP internet service provider make sure the Caps lock is on/off which ever applies to your ISP contract
check your computers settings ie: firewall also he might have a default internet setting
check the leads from the modem/router whether usb, ethernet make sure they are not bad/faulty and have secure connections and try different ports
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters + to expand any yellow ! ? or a red x will mean that the driver is corrupt and needs to be updated

hope this helps

Laptop not working

Is this for your laptop or modem?? If laptop, sounds like you may have a bad driver trying to load for the modem (since thats what you have listed). If thats the case, try booting into Safe Mode, then remove the drivers for the modem via Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. If you still get a blank screen after rebooting, your master boot record may have become corrupt.

My computer keeps turning off

try reinstalling your modem drivers.
go to its manufacturers web site, and download the driver only from there.
it is possible that your driver is corrupt

Dell Inspiron 2200 cant connect to internet

go to support.dell.com and download the modem driver to an external media (cd, thumb drive, etc.).
then right click 'my computer' and go to properties then device manager. you should be able to go to the modem and update the driver from a specific location and then point it to the external media you have downloaded the driver to.
