Every time I reboot my Win XP Pro SP3 the system ejects the empty dvd drive and when ever i try to close it, it closes then ejects again continually.
It's a BENQ DVD DUAL DW1610. I have disabled the drive from control panel and it still happens. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the solution re xp sp3 but the problem existed when i was at sp2. Even tried disabling the drive through hardware devices to see if it was a drive problem and it still happens. I suspect it's a motherboard problem as i never had this probelm on my other xp pro sp2 system. There is no update i'm aware of for the BENQ drivers for this device or i just can't find it on their site (BENQ.com)

did this happen after you have updated your win xp to sp3? try to do a system restore. go to all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore> go back to the date before the sp3 was installed. try also updating the driver for your optical drive
