Keyboard key issue in laptop (by 2 users)

i popped my gateway laptop 'shift' key off to get at some junk that was under it, preventing me from really using it.

there's a white piece underneath, as well as a metal bar that snaps to the key itself. now i put the white piece back but i can't get the stupid thing to stay stuck like my other shift key.

are there pictures or something to help me fix this thing?

I have the same problem.

Did the key snap in when you inserted it?

The metal bar needs to be clipped on to the plastic shift key. Look under the plastic shift key and you can see recess where the metal bar fits. Place the shift key over these recess and push down until it clicks into place.
