Question about Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M Digital Media Player

Really toast? When you say "release the play button when teh Creative logo shows" --- do I hold the play button down to boot the player? and then release it when the Creative logo shows? The HD is not toast yet... I can play it for half an hour before it starts looping. Maybe it has something to do with getting hot. But even if it is "toast" (love that terem, but it is not encouraging!) can I not get a new HD put in? I've read of this being done. Where can one investigate getting a new HD (preferably in NZ). You have said "replace with flash card". Please can you tell me what sort where I get it and how to put it in. I have a well experienced friend who could do it with some guidence. Thanks Sue

I stumbled on a knowledge base on the Creative web-site after I had registered the player; maybe this was not available to me previously.
This player has a Reset button sunk into the base. It needs a prod with the end of a paper clip during the boot up. The resultant Recovery menu gives the option to Format the disc which I've done and successfully loaded my music back again. It is now playing very nicely and hopefully will continue to do so.

I hope this info will help others with the same problem. I t appears that the music files can become corrupted very easily.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. 1. Detach the player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
2. Press and hold the Play button while powering on the player.
3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button
4. Select Format (All) and select Yes to format the player.
5. After the player has finished formatting, select Reboot.
6. Re-transfer the tracks to the player.

Zen wont turn on or charge

My Creative Zen has a white screen but syill plays music

1. Fully charge the unit
2. Get a song to play
3. Lock the device
4. Wait for black screen and leave it like that for 20 seconds
5. Hold the play/pause button down and move the side switch out of lock mode, then push all the way down (like you're turning it off) and release (back to middle position)
6. Release the play/pause button

My 16GB creative zen is on recovery mode after installing an upgraded soft ware


You must give it the firmware upgrade from support.creative.com, or it will not be able to get out of this mode. Support.creative.com

Drive may be toast

Creative Vision M - 60GB; Disk problem


When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.
It will display the following options:
Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All)
Caution! Erases all content!



There is no scan disk or Utility that i know of that will work sounds like the drive is toast!

try putting it in recovery mode, detach it from anything like a charger or pc make sure that it is off, press and hold the play button while powering on, when you see the logo release the play button, for this problem you must se;ect the reload os firmware and then follow instructions

Not rebuilding Library all the way
