Right click on the desktop, then click properties. Open the screen saver tab and you will see a box that reads power. You can adjust your power settings from there. Although it sounds to me like your battery may be wearing out and need replacing. If you're new settings don't work, try running it just on AC without the battery for a while and see if it does the same things.

WHEN I HAVE MY LAPTOP PLUGGED IN IT CHARGES BATTERY TO 40% THEN STOPS WHY'S THIS

Hi Tina,

Your battery needs a calibration, follow the instruction below to calibrate the battery.

  1. With Windows Vista, navigate to Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Power Options
  2. Click "Change Plan Settings".
  3. Set all tabs to "Never" underneath "On Battery" column.
  4. Click "Change advanced power settings".
  5. Set Sleep > Hibernate after to 0 or Never.
  6. Set Battery > Critical Battery Level to 0.
  7. Click on "OK", then "Save Changes".

This is the only time that we recommend taking the battery all the way down to zero percent. Unplug the ac adapter, and let the battery drain all the way down until the laptop shuts off. Then plug the AC adapter back in, and let it recharge to 100% or where it actually reaches. You may need to repeat the cycle 2-3 times before it actually reaches 100%.

Note: After the calibration is done, change the power options settings back to what it was as they will help you save power. Also, when a power source is available dont run the laptop on battery, it will increase the battery life.

Regards,
Shrey

Drain Flee power
Steps to do
· Disconnect AC adapter,
· Remove Battery
· Press and hold power button for 30 seconds.
· Reconnect adapter and battery
· Start your pc and go to safe mode and check power settings.
· Depending on your OS check event log /windows error log to find out what is causing the problem. And disable the service or reinstall driver needed.

Hibernation mode

First thing to try is to remove the battery and disconnect the AC adapter. Press the power button for a full 10 seconds to drain residual power from the capacitors on the board. Give it 5 mins then put the AC adapter and battery back in and give it a try. You might also refine your hibernation settings - I had a 5000 which is similar and finally turned hibernation off. Also check for a pin switch that the lid pushes down when it closes to see if something is holding the switch down when the lid is raised. I dont remember if that model has a mechanical push switch or a magnetic. Magnetic shouldnt do it but mechanicals are very prone to getting stuck.

Mouse pad been working fine, but now not working on acer aspire 5732Z i had for christmas. can i fix or will i have to return to shop?

hello, i have a suggestion for this kind of problem. Try to do a power drain. First you have to power off the computer, remove the battery and ac adapter and anything that is plugged on to your computer. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Put the battery back and the ac adapter, try to power it on and test it. If still doesnt work try to uninstall and re install the driver for your mousepad. Hope this helps! goodluck!!!

I have 5573 which when pressed the start button shows indicator light for the moment but then goes off consequently laptop doesn't start. The product is Laptop Model Aspire 5573ZNWXMi having Intel pentium...

To isolate the problem do the following:
1. Drain the power from the system first by removing battery and ac adapter then press and hold power button for 10 seconds, put battery and ac adapter back and turn on computer.
2. If still having a problem, drain power again but this time turn on system with just the ac adapter.
3. If still have problem normally with this issue it might be caused by the rams so drain power from system again, locate the bay for the rams and reseat the rams. (do this step only if you are capable, if not get a help of someone who knows the job)
4. If still not turning on there might be a problem on the mainboard and you will need to get a local help to have the system check if the problem is still fixable but with this issues normally it's the whole mainboard that is being replaced or just the rams

Acer Aspire 2920 won't turn on, although plugged in with battery

First of all, what I'm about to tell you are general troubleshooting techniques - I make no claim that they will fix what you describe, but they may help lead you to a solution.
  1. Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery
  2. Plug in the AC adapter and attempt to power on the laptop
  3. If it doesn't power on, see #6 below. If it does power on, but doesn't boot the OS, restart - pressing [SPACE] as the first Windows splash screen appears. When prompted, choose to delete the hibernation file and start a system boot.
  4. Shut the system down, disconnect the AC adapter, reinsert the battery, and attempt to power the laptop. If it doesn't start we know, at the very least, there's a battery problem.
  5. Plug in the AC adapter. If it shuts down immediately, or won't power back on after a shutdown. . .
  6. . . .there's a problem with the system board, probably the ciruitry associated with charging the battery.
I hope you 'see the light'. Good Luck!
